I bought a system including an 8 Channel H.264 DVR with 8 Pro-500 cameras. 2 cameras did not work out of the box. I replaced them with 4 cameras (2 spares) and both new cameras work BUT I have no night coverage on the new cameras and wonderful day pictures. Phone 'Tech' support is asking me to switch cams...blah, blah, blah. The LED's work at night, the photo cells work (switch on); cover up the green dot and LED's come on. I see a recessed hole with threads, labeled 'N', in line with the green dot at the bottom on the cameras; I think for calibration to let more or less light in for night vision. The older, first set of cameras had these holes wide open; the newer ones had a small pinhole opening. I do not have a 'tool' to calibrate or open the hole to let more light in, or to set the LED's. I may be imagining this as a fix, but the cameras work so well in daylight I hate to just swap them out rather than fix the real problem, Can you help me? I can improvise a tool with help, if that is indeed the solution.
You don't want to let more light in the hole if you want it to work at night. Plug one of the cameras that work at night into the plug of one of the cameras that don't work at night and see what happens, if the problem moves with the camera then it is a bad camera or the wrong model for your system.

try swapping the cam inputs first to rule out the unit, if not the camera may be faulty or needs setting up properly with a focus adapter, or the lens could need setting up!
when CCTV company's set up these systems they have all the equipment to plug in and focus auomatically etc..
Hope this helps!
Try looking at www.digitalvideos.co.uk (test equipment) section.

I may have a solution for you. I had the same kind of problems when I upgraded the NS840 Security Blackbox Main Program from 2.0.0 to 3.0.1. From reading in other places I really don't think the 3.0.1 software works at all as far as being able to connect to your system remotely. Something about the engineers sabotaging the software before they went out of business. Luckily I still have the 2.0.0 software that I downloaded last year. So I uninstalled the 3.0.1 and installed the old 2.0.0 and guess what? It works as advertised! You'll need to download and unzip the program installation file here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/389704/ns840_2.0.0_setup.rar

Not familiar with this model. Does the unit itself have a drive in it or are you recording to an external system drive (also called an NAS drive). If NAS drive have you mapped the drive so the software knows its there?
