I have a XTH 9 DB35 KW T through hull transducer and a humminbird 858cx model screen on my boat.I have just tried to change the transducer mounting position but the result is the same. The transducer was first placed about 2 mts from the back of the boat and has been moved closer to the center of the boat but the result is the same.I have a 11 mts fiberglass boat with inboard engines. Please help

Be sure you have your unit set in "max mode" and run it on 200khz frequency see if this makes any difference. Also be sure your unit is wired directly to your battery not through a switch or fuse panel as this can rob your unit of voltage, impacting the strength of your sonar signal.

Testimonial: "sounds like a very good idea to tri as mine is connected to a switch panel."

SOURCE: Marine Faria depth finder, with thru the hull transducer.

I'm having the exact same problem. I spoke with the service manager at Faria (Ted) and he was thinking that as long as the gauge is showing a reading, it should default to reading the depth. I'll probably send the guage in to FARIA - they'll repair it for $55. You bring up a good point - maybe the transducer is bad? I put a call in to the Tedmeister to see what he thinks. I'll post if he sheds any light.

SOURCE: does this transducer mount in

Hi!

This transducer requires a hole to be drilled in the bottom of the hull and the unit installed from the outside, using a caulk/adhesive such as 3M 4200 or 5200. Nice choice. Furuno is a good manufacturer!

Hope this helps!

Hello Jacovinoa,

I understand that you are having a problem with your Vexilar FL 10 the units is not showing you depths. This can be a problem with the voltage being to below 8 volts when the unit is running. Also you may need to clean the transducer if it has a film of dust on it, it will not read the depths. One other thing you need to check is the angle of the transducer. These are the three possibilities that it can be, if it is not one of these you transducer has went bad.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

My pool is 16feet wide by 32 long 10 feet deep what is the square footage

What you looking to know?

Square feet suggests a flat area, like the floor plan of the pool, which would be 16 x 32 = 512 square feet. Like you'd measure walls for tiles or paper etc.

As you've given 3 dimensions, sounds like your after the cubic capacity/volume of the pool, in which case your looking at cubic feet (same as flat area above, but with the added depth to go from flat 2d, to 3d (2 vs 3 dimensions)), which would be 16 x 32 x 10 = 5,120 cubic feet.

Why do I get a clearer picture on my screen when I set my transducer on single 200mhz beam, and the picture is not clear and I get a poor bottom view when set on single 83khz or dual beam 200/83 kHz.

It it understandable that different resolution would give you a better picture bit, loosing reception??? Judging from what you have tried I suspect the cable is damaged some place. If you have extra cable... try not to have the excess cable rolled up in a tight roll. This may cause interference. Make sure the transducer is aimed as flat as possible.

Why does my transducer not get a return when its deeper than 150 mts?how much amps does it need to operate in deep water?

Normally a new clean faced 1 KW thru-hull transducer works to 3,000 feet ( 914 meters).
Maybe the impedance of the transducer and electronics driving it do not match.
Connecting cable too long?
Poor connections. Look at plug pins to see if any are bent.

My fishfinder will not continue to read shallow depths as well as in shallow depths when drifting and occasionally running across the water. My unit is a lowrance 522c color gps/fishfinder.

Hello. Your observation is spot on and it is actually a characteristic that is always true when using sonar. Yes, your Lowrance uses the same sonar as a nuclear powered submarine does. The two factors you focus on, water depth and boat speed are perhaps, the two biggest factors when it comes to the quality of the fishfinder. The boat's engine should be in gear at an idle or just above. Experiment with your boat to find the best throttle location for good arches. Usually, a slow trolling speed works best. The depth of the fish can determine if the fish will arch on the screen. If the fish is in shallow water, the fish is not in the cone angle very long, making it difficult to show an arch. Typically, the deeper the fish, the easier it is to show an arch.

X510c most of the time it reads 1.6 for the depth, it flashes 1.6 then it will go to the correct depth for a shqrt time then get stuck on 1.6 again some times other depths but mostly 1.6

Does this occur at any depths...over 20ft even.

The X510c will have problems keeping depth in shallow water...especially if it is muddy, weedy down there.

If the problem occurs even in depth over 20ft, then try resetting the unit:

1. Turn unit off
2. Press and hold ZIN, ZOUT, and PWR until you see the depth (flashing or not) in the top left corner.

If the problem still occurs, make sure the transducer is clean and still mounted so that it is sending the signal straight down to the bottom.

If the problem still occurs, make sure the power is good. You can have the voltage displayed on the screen through the overlay data menu.

Does the problem occur at any speed? If the problem clears up when you stop or slow down, the problem is due to cavitation and the transducer will need to be moved to a location where it is in a smooth flow of water at all speeds.

If none of this helps, there may be a malfunction with the X510c. You can try to update it but you will need to get the software update from someone at Lowrance support and then find a way to connect your X510c to a Lowrance unit that has a memory card slot via a NMEA 2000 network. I can help you with this if you need.

Other than that you can have the X510c returned to the factory for service.

Lowrance x96 does not function after 20 feet depth

Your transducer needs to be adjusted so the return signal can be picked up. Some of these have to be super tuned to receive the signal. Also the transducer may be moving ever so slightly when the boat is traveling at speed. You may have some water turbulence interference all contibute to signal return.
