There just might be a sock or simular that has been able to pass between the two tubs and is now blocking the sump hose. It is possible with a torch to look throught the holes in the drum at where the heater is and see something. If there is. With machine power and hoses diconnected, you need to lay the machine on it's side where you will see the sump hose from the drum to the pump. You can some times feel if there is something in the hose. If not you will have to undo the hose from the rdum, just a simple clip. Then feel around the inside of the drum.If your lucky you will find the object. jsut put everything back checking for water leaks the first time you fill it.
Testimonial: "i checked for blockage in the hoses and between the tub. no blockage."

Common problem with these top loading Kenmore models. There are many step by step solutions on replacing whats called the motor coupling(3 pieces) An easy way to tell if this is your problem when you pull the washer out you may see a pile of black(or maybe even white) shavings right under the motor. The coupler keeps you from doing damage to the gearbox and breaks away first. It's a pretty easy repair if you follow the step by step instructions found on this site.(sorry I don't know how to linc for you) I just read a bunch of them and even found a couple that were on youtube showing video. The part is readily available on line or in my case at an appliance repair shop close to me.The hardest part of this repair for me was just getting the cover off first, but once again there are step by step instructions for that on here as well. The part is about 13-17 dollars, and it is a little tricky getting the one end on the gearbox, but take your time and follow the help full guides and it really isn't that bad.The cause for this problem seems to be first of all the material that the part is made of,but is mostly caused(from what i have been reading) is overlaoding of your washer.
Hope this helps, doing this repair is a whole lot cheaper than calling Sears
SOURCE: Kenmore washer will not spin or drain water, agitate works fine
Sounds like a lid switch. there should be a hole under the lid on the right side about the size of a dime. Make sure the plastic "flipper" is inside and "clicks" when you push down on it with a pen.

SOURCE: The washer fills agitate but won't spin & drain
Possible fault with the program controller unit. You need to check the program cycle outputs using a multimeter connected to measure the output voltage. On start the inlet should open and then close as the water level sensors works and then proceed to wash. So this much seems OK. Now in the next step the drain valve must open to drain off, then fill once again with the inlet working and water level being sensed. If there is no output in this section cycle then the prrogram controller has errors within the memory . You can remove the panel and reset all connectors and connections.
Hello Tina Kaha - Often when a unit does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.
