We are letting our home phone go, l want to know if l can set my printer to fax using the internet or my ceiling phone

Never heard of a ceiling phone - so far.

The way fixed internet is delivered to a house or building is usually via a landline phone connection and so whether you have a landline phone or not, if you have fixed line internet, you are usually paying for the facility.

There is a very good reason to keep a landline phone - if the power goes down the phone masts go out. At times of disaster, either regionally or domestically the power supply is usually the first thing to go.

I haven't so far met a fax machine that will connect to a mobile network though whether any of the modern multifunction printers will, I don't know though it seems unlikely and hardly a satisfactory solution for a service that is always supposed to be on and available.
Using a laptop or PC as a fax would seem more suitable...

I have a landline....I tried 2 different cordless Panasonic phones and they do not ring on incoming calls neither do the answering machines pick up the calls...but I can call out.

Seems that either the phone company has cut-off your incoming service (which they do for non-payment), or you have activated a "feature" and need to turn it off.

(phone companies cannot turn off local-outgoing calls for non-payment because that would prevent you from calling 911)

Have you tried calling your landline to see if you hear a message?

A simple call to your Telco Provider would probably resolve this quicker.

What is the meaning of eror 232*

Error Code: 232
  • A communication failure occurred between the two machines.
  • The user at the remote machine might have pressed the Stop key.
  • The call waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line. Do not use call waiting on a line with a fax machine.
  • The power at the remote machine was interrupted, or deliberately turned off causing the fax session to be interrupted.

Solutions
  • If the error persists, and error correction is in use for the fax session, disable ECM. Fax quality might be degraded. Click here for instructions on enabling and disabling ECM .
  • Set the host machine to receive at a slower transmission speed.
  • Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power brownouts and other power-related problems.

I'm useing same phone for fax. can't seem to make fax work(go throu) don't know if I have the right connections

you are having right connection but only for voice call
some service providers are not providing data calls( Fax) by default
means if you have cabled landline then you might get data calls facility with it
but if you are having wwl or cdma type landline then you might not get fax facility by default
you just need to ask your service center for data call
and if needed just activate tyhat service and you will see your fax machine working

Fax and phone ringing together on constant

The fax machine has a setting for the number of rings before it picks up. It's different for each model but you should find it in the manual, no problem.
