The coffee spout is blocked how to unblock it
My Jura 5 was only pouring coffee from one spout, the other was blocked. I fixed it by removing the cover from the spout (see photo) it clips off with pressure applied to the sides on the dimpled part, then removing the brown reservoir inside after disconnecting the brown tube. Right enough, one side of the reservoir was full of coffee residue. I cleaned this with hot water and a tooth brush before re-assembling it all. The machine now pours perfectly from both spouts.
Very helpful! My machine was blocked and coffee was only dripping from the spouts. I have followed your advice and the machine is now pouring properly. Thanks a lot!
Hi we have tried this. Not sure we are doing it correctly.
do I pull it up or down??
Look forward to hearing back from you.
All good got it sorted thank you ??
Worked perfectly, it was awfully clogged all right.
It's easy when you know how...
Thank you mate. Peace.
Once I removed the cap, I discovered that not only was the removable reservoir clogged, so were the spouts below. I filled a glass with vinegar put it on the stainless drop catcher, lowered the spouts and allowed them to soak for an hour. Then rinsed the unit with warm water (with the glass underneath) and they are clean once again. Thanks for the tip on removing the cover from the spout, that was a big help!
Thank you so much for your explanation. I've just followed your instructions and my trusty Ena 5 is back to its old self. Thank you!

Use a pin or a needle on the spout to clean the nozzle head. Most of the time this is due to useing to fine a grind in the machine. You may have to clean the head this way more then one time to get it to start working again properly. If you have any further questions message me back.
Thank you
Rick

Did it work before this?
Sometimes hard water can build up and cause blockages.
Try mixing hot water and white vinegar (50/50 mix) and try running it through the machine. If this works, run it through a few more times than run cold water through a couple times to get rid of the vinegar.
Good Luck.

This is most likely due to a bad o'ring. The bar you speak of...Does the unit have a small spout pointing upward from the area?...with a groove? Is the o'ring in that groove damaged or missing? When the grounds are compressed in the piston, the brew unit lowers down onto this spout and seals on it. The high pressure water then is injected upward inot the brew unit. When this seal fails the water simply leaks into the tray when there are grounds providing backpressure. When rinsing and no backpressure some of the water may be getting through. Make sure you lube up any seals with a food grade lube. Olive oil will work in a pinch.

Someone online sells a special screwdriver head used to open the Z5. With it, it's possible to take the machine apart, clean up the coffee ground dust that gums up the moving parts. You can giggle sensor switches that get stuck. The water lines will need decalcifying eventually, even if you use the the Clearyl water filter cartridges. If you're not up to taking machines apart, sell me your broken Z5: [email protected]

Most likely the 2 spouts have become plugged with crud. Use a toothpick while the machine is dispensing coffee. Stick the toothpick up in each little nozzle and move it around it might take several cups to get this done. I removed the top cover on mine and just poored water in where the coffee normally goes. It is just a gravity feed system. Don't poor too fast and move the toothpick around until the blockage is cleared. Helps to have 2 people for this. Also, once you get it cleared, try the finest grind setting. Mine was set on the coarsest setting and I think that was making making the blockage more likley. I dont think the cracked spout is common though. My machine has made over 8100 cups and is going on 7 years. No cracks are visible in mine.
