Hi Jeff Mayweather, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? What OS system will you be installing?
I want to reinstall OS X 10.6 on my Mac Pro.
Did you make a recovery disc of the 10.6 when you got the system? If not you need to go to a Genius Bar and they can roll it back for you.
Yes I Have a copy of OS X 10.6!
You need to have your hard drive backed up separate hard drive or with a provider like Crashplan. This is paramount unless you don't have anything on the current hard drive that you need to keep.

Once you have everything backed up put the disc in and follow the instructions. It will warn you that you are stepping back. The reason you need everything backed up is because it may not give you the option to just install a new OS but may reset your hard drive.
Why would you want to uninstall the OS? What are you going to replace it with??
OS 10.6
