Make sure that blades are not engaged which will cause the pulley to be out further making the belt too tight for install. There may also be a tensioner pulley that may need to be released.

Check tranny/ pump belt

You are almost there with what you have. Just get the belt around that third pulley that you don't have it on yet. Have someone hold the tension wheel lose while you get the other pulley in the belt loop and then let go of the tensionor.

You will have to disconnect the deck from the tractor. There might be some rods hanging down by the pulley on the motor. You have to loosen those not remove. Then install the new belt with the inside of belt (V) into the pulleys. The outside of belt (flat side) goes up against any idlers (oversized pulleys). Once you get the belt routed properly the belt will be snug in the pulleys. If you have excess play you have to use trial and error to get the belt routed the right way around the idlers.
Once belt is on reattach the deck and tighten the rods by the motor that keeps the belt from comming off. They need to be close but not touching the engine pulley.
