SOURCE: wiring a 220v single phase motor and capacitor

Black and white are usually power. an ohmmeter will confirm. Brown are for capacitors. There is almost always a diagram on the motor someplace. Eric

Email me at [email protected] and I'll reply with the .PDF from AOSmith. You need to move a couple of wires but as they say, a picture is worth me typing a thousand words.

SOURCE: capacitor wiring on a ao smith M#-C48L2N134B1.

The single lead goes to one leg, the split wired leg in the same spade goes to the other. They are usually yellow wires. As far as Hayward, Jacuzzi and Starite are concerned.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

White is common, Black high speed, blue medium speed, red low speed; Brown wires are for the capacitor; The remaining 4 are for selecting the rotation.

For details look at the AOSmith print here.

Here is a great pdf file for AO Smith motors. This covers other types of motors too but does give a few views of the starting switch mechanism.

Wiring diagram 3/4 hp boat lift motor

It will be dependent upon the line voltage and switching mechanism...

Please advise drum switch or relays?
115V or 230V
Remote control present?

If a drum switch, is it a 6 or 12 terminal model or some other configuration?
Make and model of the switch?

There may be more questions depending on the answers to these...do you have a wiring diagram for the control? Are you replacing a motor and have the old and new motor schematics?
