1. Some of these turntables were designed to work on multiple voltages. If yours has a voltage adjustment make sure it's set for 110 or 120 V (North American) or whatever your power line voltage is. 2. Does it have a variable speed control with markings around the platter that tell you when it's on speed? if so, make sure you're reading the right scale when you adjust speed. Some Technics turntables have scales for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz (North American) line frequency, with two rows of dots for each, and if you're looking at the wrong scale when you adjust the knobs you'll get the wrong speed. 3. If neither of these solves the problem, you'll have to take it in for service.

Runs fast about 78rpm.

You don't say if it's a belt or direct drive turntable. If it's a belt then something might have caused the belt to slip off it's normal position so it runs fast.
Direct drives are more complicated, but it would seem that the voltage control circuit that feeds the motor is applying to much to it and the therefore is faulty.

Technics sl5200 turntable spins too fast

Make sure the turntable speed is on the appropriate level for each record (33 rpm or 45 rpm), then check the voltage selector and make sure it is appropriate for your housing electricity.

My turn table is going to fast when i play an record , what can i do to fix this? thanks

Hello the turn table has two speeds. 45rpm and 33rpm (rotations per minute) If you are playing a record that takes up the entire turntable you need to set it on 33rpm. For the records that only take up half of the turntable you want to set it on 45rpm. Setting the turntable on the wrong setting for a certain size record can make the record play to fast of to slow.

I have just bought a pre-owned Technics SL BD-22 turntable and the speed is variable - when I adjust the pitch adjustment wheel it seems to get worse. On listening to familiar music it seems to be running...

Have a look at the bottom of the turntable. This type of turntable often have speed adjusters. They might be covered by a sticky label or something. If you can't see that go inside by removing the bottom and look inside for them. There should be two, one for each speed.

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

Technic 1200mk2 has no speed control

This unit is NOT belt driven. It is direct drive, meaning, that a series of Integrated Circuits (IC's), and various other electronic components control it's speed. If it's going very fast, more than likely one of the IC's (or multiple), have gone bad. You need to take this to a service center for repair.
