Center channel from my receiver is failing after some minutes after turned on. I digged into services manual and checked voltages in amplifier stage and they are ok. Thinking now to replace both Q6032 2SC517 and Q6042 2SA1930 but I'd like to here some other idea before going to this procedure. Thanks
You could check your voltages before and after you loose audio and see where the voltage changes. Working backwards from output to input. I use a signal tracer or a small wattage speaker such as a
ear bud. If you don't have access to a oscilloscope.
when using an ear bud I would start at the driver(low wattage)
the pa would blow it.

Most likely what you did was burn out the output transistors to the center channel. and probably the Bias resistors that control them. The parts themselves would be inexpensive. But they would probably have to come straight from Onkyo. And you would have to know there part number. And to get matched complimentaries. Mark up. And how far into the circuit the damage went. If I was to repair it I would probably put $100 to $125. But depending on the age of the unit and what a new won would cost is what I would use to decide to replace or restore.
SOURCE: In THX mode, no sound from center channel
hello if you already switch your center speaker with other and no sound still even in all modes you right you got a problem inside...do this to be shure you have a problem turn it on discnonnect the center speaker and measure with a voltmeter the center output and if is delivering under a 3 volt ac take it to repair shop it has a shortcircuit,.................saludos

If you have any of its sound outputs connected to a TV or tape deck do they get the signal? If so, then we know there is sound processing somewhere inside the unit but not emerging to anyplace that requires amplification.
A quick basic check would be to tune an FM station, run an RCA cable pair from the audio output for a tape deck (see the picture at the link) to an analog audio input on your TV. Select that input on the TV and you shouls hear the FM station, or anything the receiver is configured to play. If it's silent then there is no audio signal circulating in the receiver to get out to the amplifiers.

Check to make sure Multi-Channel input is not selected unless that is what you're listening to as it bypasses all other sources analog and digital EXCEPT the tape; and check any Mute or Zone Controls, too.
If you hear the program on the TV but not through any attached speakers, then the amplifiers are all disabled for some reason. The click I asked about before... when you turn it on does it get a click about 5 seconds later. That would be the protection circuitry turning OFF to allow the amplifiers to function.
I notice it has a Tape function. Make sure it isn't selected as it assumes a tape deck or processor is attached and will only play back what would be coming FROM the tape deck or processor. On my Pioneer receiver it also disables any digital signal processing.
Sometimes when I'm watching TV with the remote on the seat someone moves and something bad happens. It's always some unfamiliar button that gets touched unintentionally. Look over the remote for things like MUTE, Multi-CH, Tape.

Recommend changing your FINAL drive AMP IC most house BOTH right and left channels, your drivers right channel input is good cuz it is used to make the left channel signal

I have similar problem with my Onkyo Tx-SR600. It only happens when it's in surround mode. When switch to Stereo or Direct, the scratchiness go away. Still trying to find a solution to this problem.
