Activity light is not flash. could my modem be bad?
In your browser type 192.16.0.1 and it will take you to the modem admin page.
Press the check connection button and it will tell you how your connections are doing. If it shows DSL/Internet down, then most likely your ISP is down 95% likely), or your modem is bad (happens pretty often with these things)
If it doesn't take you to the page, try using 10.0.0.1
some of the newer 5100s have that as their address. Same options and advice.
