I usually pess fax mode then enter the number Next I press start then ok .ican hear the ring tone and after the connection is established i see on the display transmit led so far for the last 2 days I get a report Line is busy
It sounds like you have a queue of documents/faxes banked up and it shows and sounds like that it dials. I think that this a false representation of what it is doing. I suggest to
1.unplug your fax from telephone line.
2.unplug your fax from the computer. (remove all connections and just leave power plugged in
Suggestion
(if you have another phone plug it in and make sure you have a dial tone.. even call the number for external calls to that line to establish with a ring of incoming call)
3.Find the queue on your PC for your faxes in your device list and purge all documents pending. Click on document in your index list (File, Documents, help, about.) and cancel all documents.
4.once they are all gone reboot your pc.
5.reboot your printer/fax, (once they are in idle state..
6.power them off again..
7.Reconnect your phone line to your fax,
8.reconnect your USB or Network Cable back into the network or PC.
9.Power on the Printer/Fax first,
10.then your PC..
this should clear any electrical signal from your system. If connected via USB sometimes Printers using this port will encapsulate the port and stop all from accessing the port. even after a reboot that's why you must remove and disperse all electrical signals from your system to free up the ports again. I hope this helps
Cheers,
Ken

Hi ...
It might be possible that the line is loose or the long distance calling code is incorrect. Follow the below instructions which might resolve the problem.
Sending Using a Long Distance Calling Code
The telephone company or PBX system may use long distance calling codes on a phone line as a means to manage long distance calls. This service may extend to a fax phone line and for local phone calls as well.
To use a calling code for faxing, enter a pause (or pauses, as necessary) in the dialing sequence to allow time for the phone system to distinguish between the phone number and the calling code. For example, if the calling code has to be entered after the phone number, press <Redial/Pause> after the long distance number and then enter the calling code.
Here is an example of a couple of variations that may be used by the phone company / PBX system. (For details on time sequence between the long distance number and when you must enter the calling code, please contact your phone company or telecommunications specialist.)
Long distance number: 212.555.1212
Calling code: 123456
Scenario One:
12125551212p123456
Scenario Two:
123456p12125551212
Note: The above scenarios include a pause (p) in between the dialing sequence. This pause may be necessary to allow the phone system to detect each set of dialing sequences. The pause length can be adjusted from one to nine seconds, the default is two seconds.
Tips to help you send a fax using a calling code.
Don't forget to vote if this helps ... Cheers :)
Example: 12125551212p123456
The number of pauses will depend on the phone / PBX system.
It is suggested to confirm if the time before the next set of digits is dialed will always be constant. This way you can always use the same number of pauses for that dialing sequence. If needed, you can also change the pause [Pause time] length from its default 2 seconds.

If there is a poor line or connection, reducing the transmission start speed may correct the error.
Reduce the transmission start speed. Refer to "TX start speed" in "Device Settings" of the User's Guide on-screen manual.
