Dell M1530 wont turn on

I press the power button and the dashboard lights will go on for a bit but nothing else happens, the monitor wont even start and the computer gets locked with just the power led on, no HD activity. The video diagnostic was ok (using the d key while pressing the power button) but the diagnostic mode (Fn key while pressing power) will only give me all the lock leds on and the num lock led blinking. I tried using a AC direct power (no battery) and using a different AC and nothing worked. All devices were unplugged while performing this tests.

Thanks for the reply, i dont think i cant reset anything since it wont start or show anything on screen, its plainly dead, seems to me that the motherboard wont turn on but the computer itself seems to power on. A friend of mine said it could be the flex, could that be it? if so, is there a way i can test anything else to be sure?

I am having the same issue... I have found its a defective GPU I got mine to work by removing the heat sink off of just the GPU and over heating it till the cooling fan turned back on... after the fan turned on I turned it off applied new thermal past and resetted the heat sink and it rebooted fine.

When I turn on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop, it shows a white screen that then fades slowly to gray and blue, instead of showing the bios. An external monitor shows the same. Anyone has had this issue and...

It seems you're having issues with the internal video card or motherboard. If you're not able to boot to bios it means your laptop didn't pass the POST (Power On Self Test). tried running the dell diagnostics.

here are the steps:

1. turn off the laptop.

2. while the laptop is off, press and hold down the FN key then press the power button. The dell diagnostics should come up. If nothing happens, you should call Dell to check more options.

Good luck,

Ryan

Monitor is in piwer safe mode press any key on the keyboard or move ouse. NOthing happens.

Check your PC connection.

If thats fine, most likely you have some bad capacitors on your power board. Desolder them, then solder on new compatible ones.

Also please clarify your question a bit more. What exactly happens when you first turn on your monitor? Does anything come up? Does the power light turn on?

Wont start up

We will see if the problem is due to the static charge accumulated on the laptop. Disconnect the power cable from the laptop and also take out the battery. Also, disconnect all the external devices attached to the laptop e.g. external mouse, keyboard, printer. Now keep on holding down the power button on the laptop for the next 30 seconds. Put the battery back and plug the power cable. Now try turning on the laptop and let me know if it works. Thanks!

I have a Dell XPS M1530 and it will not power up. I push the power button and the blue light goes on for 3-5 seconds and then goes off. Power is entering laptop and battery is fully charged but nothing...

this is either a motherboard, AC or battery problem. Isolate it by removing all attached devices, then emove the battery and power on the computer with just the AC adapter. If that does not work, remove try to use another AC, and another battery. if using another AC and another battery does not work, run the diagnostics on the dell laptop. press and hold the FN key, then press the power button. see if that will give you any error and take note if any of the lock lights will come up and/or blink.

In power save mode

The monitor is not receiving signal from the computer. Is the power light on on the computer? If so - press and hold power button on computer until the power light goes off, then press again to restart. If the computer starts and you still have no picture it is most likely a video card or motherboard problem.
