All new popcorn machines will produce a industrial smell for a short while when first heated up. It is from the oils used in manufacturing and that will stop over time.
Burned wire smell is usually associated with cleaning of the kettle. Cleaning compounds that are stuck in the carbon will create a harsh smell.

SOURCE: How much oil and popcorn kernels to use in gold medal machine

Try one ounce of oil, 1/2 teaspoon popcorn salt and 1/2 cup of popcorn and see how much it fills your machine and adjust quantities from there. This will usually fill a wok size bowl.

I hate to put this as a solution because it really isn't. I have an old popper needing a new kettle and was told it was almost as much to purchase a new kettle than the whole machine. The kettle is almost the entire cost of the unit. I will be purchasing a new unit.

Have you checked to assure that the warmer switch and the kettle heat switch are both functioning properly? Also the timer on the bucket seasoning pump control box determines the length of time the heat element of the bucket pump is at HIGH HEAT i also suggest you take a look at this pdf of the manual of your machine under the troubleshooting guide area if you have any further questions please message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation Thanks again

SOURCE: Our elementary school has this

Generally, you want 3 oz. of corn to one 1oz of oil. The amount of corn you can put in the kettle depends on the size of the kettle. So take the kettle size, (I think that machine is an 8 oz popper) and divide 8 by three to get 2.66 oz. (about a third of a cup) of oil needed. So you would use 1 cup of corn, and a third cup of oil.

Why is my gold medal popcorn model # 2552 machine not heating to pop popcorn anymore?

A kettle not heating is either a switch, kettle wires, thermostat, or kettle heater.

Check that the kettle is plugged in tight, notice if the switch lights up when switched, then contact your local gold medal dealer for repairs. It is always cheaper to repair a gold medal kettle than replace.

Gold Medal Deluxe Pinto Pop Popcorn Machine Model 2147 will not heat up

If the switch is OK and you have. Power at the kettle plug and you are not getting any heat it's one of 3 things. Burned wire inside the kettle. this is common. Or it could be the thermostat is bad or the element itself is out?

We need operator's manual for Gold Medal Astro-Pop model 2012

Gold Medal Model number 2012 is for a 28x48 4 wheel cart only, it is not a popcorn machine.

Astro Pops are model 2010, have been for 30+ years.

Their Manuals are not publicly available because they have changed many, many times and the odds of you getting the correct one is slim.

What parts are you looking for? and what is the manufacture date of the machine?, the serial plate is in the lower right hand corner of the cabinet, behind the cart doors if there are doors.

The 2086 in the picture looks like the Ultra P-60 with the copper finish (Part #1866 at http://www.gmpopcorn.com)
You can get some manuals & schematics at the Jarco website:  http://www.concessionstands.com/s.nl/it.A/id.307/.f  (The machine is listed there under part #2086, by the way; is this where it came from?)

Anyway, hope this info is of some use.
