Everytime I try to change a template it always comes up with an error and shuts the program down.....

I have a few templates saved and when I go to change the photo or details it will say: Asure ID has encountered an unexpected error and must shut down. More details about the error have been written to the windows event log.

First, make sure you're running the latest release of Asure ID. The users of Asure ID 2009 are (as of this writing) entitled to a free upgrade to Asure ID v7 via their website (www.hidglobal.com).

Next, see if there are old database records associated with the problematic template that can be purged. There has been an issue with Asure ID in the past that, when storing photos in the Asure ID database, rather than pulling them in from a local directory with only a "pointer" to that file being stored. What occurs is the database size becomes excessive and Asure ID attempts to "pre-read" a large number of records when it opens to reduce program lag and response time. If the memory required to "pre-read" these records is very large (due to the size of stored photos), then it can overwhelm the PC and cause crashes of the program.

There is also a setting for the number of records the program will pre-read on start-up in the Options screen ("Max Records Query"), which can be reduced from the default 5000 to something under 100 with no perceptible performance issues to most users.

If the Templates are from a different program, it could not be responding/allowed with the program. Especially if you are using a trial / lite version.

Try to recreate, or even make a dummy template to see if Asure ID is working correctly.

It would be worth the look on the manufacturers website or a call to customer support. You want to determine if any critical updates have been introduced to the software. Your program may not have updated automatically.

Customize email templates in QuickBooks You can manually create email templates for your QuickBooks Desktop transactions. You can also customize your email templates using pre-built data fields.
Important: To customize your e-mail template, the company file needs to be in Single User mode. Also, you must log in as Admin or have the permission to modify company preferences.
To set up your template:
  1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences then Send Forms.
  2. Go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. From the Delivery Method Default drop-down, choose E-mail.
  4. From the Email Templates drop-down, choose the specific transaction.
  5. Select Add Template.
  6. Modify the email template as necessary.
  7. To insert pre-built data, select Insert Field. Note: In QuickBooks 2020, you can also add the customer's purchase order to the subject line -Customer PO No: (Subject)
  8. To set the template as default, make sure to select Default, then Save.
  9. Select OK to close the Preferences window.
If you batch email and the transactions still use the old template: You may notice batch invoices (as well as other transactions like estimates and statements) sent using the default or old email template after the template was changed or edited. This may happen if you created batch invoices before editing the templates.

I can't open my docs yet I KNOW they haven't been deleted because I am able to email them. How do I fix this?

MS Word offers several different views in which you can read and work on documents.
The view you are using when you save a document will be the default view when you open that same document the next time.
Likewise, if you open a document created by someone else, the view in which they saved it will be the default for that file unless you change it and save it again.
You can change your default Word template, though, so that new Word documents always open in the view of your choice.

Close any Microsoft Word documents or windows on your computer.
Locate the \"Normal.dot\" file on your computer.
This is the default template for all new Word documents. If you are using Windows XP, navigate to \"c:\\documents and settings\\username\\application data\\Microsoft\\templates\", changing \"username\" to your user name on the computer.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to \"c:\\users\\username\\appdata\\roaming\\Microsoft\\templates\", again, changing the username to your user name on Windows.

Right-click \"Normal.dot\" and select \"Open.\"
A new Word document will open, which is actually the default document template.

Change the view to the one you desire.
To do so in Word 2003, go to the \"View\" menu and click on the view you want to use.
In Word 2007 or 2010, go to the \"View\" tab and select a view.

Type something into the document and then delete it.
This allows Word to recognize that a change has been made to the template without adding any unwanted items.
Click the \"Save\" button or press the \"Ctrl\" and \"S\" keys to save the changes to your default Word template.

How do I change the size of the print on the label

Font settings can be adjusted for individual label templates and for the DLS application. Please note, changing the font settings for the DLS application will only affect the creation of new label templates. It does not change the font settings of any previously created and saved label templates.

Changing the Default Font Settings for Individual Label Templates in DLS

  1. Open DLS.
  2. In DLS, click and highlight the text on the label template.
  3. The tool bar above the label template allows you to change various font and justification settings. To change font type and font size you must click on the Font Settings icon: f_f.jpg
  4. Make the necessary changes to the font settings. The Sample field indicates how the text will appear on the label. Please note, the text will automatically shrink to fit if you select a font size that is too large for the address or text object on the label to accommodate.
  5. Click OK after making the necessary changes.
  6. Save the label template. Click on the File menu in DLS and select either Save or Save As. Selecting Save will save the label template with its existing name. Selecting Save As will allow you to enter a new name and create a new label template.

When I open Word 2007 to write a letter, or anything taking more than one line, each additional line is in double spacing. How do I change to single spacing as it did in Word 2003?

Your normal template has probably been edited to double spaced text.

To fix this you need to edit your normal template file - it will live inside C:Program Files/Microsoft Office/ Templates or a folder under this or something similar to this.

Open your template and change the line spacing to single, then save it over the existing template.

Yesterday I was creating a database template using mysoftware's My Database V6.5 product that I found on the internet (30 days free trial), I went to save the template and a huge portion of the template...

probably because free trials are only there to allow you to move around the program to see if it is suitable to your expectations
it is not there to use and save data as that is not the purpose of free trial

Click the "Download Template" button. Enter your info and click "Submit". Follow the prompts to download the file. After you download your Avery template, be sure to remember where you saved the file on your computer and the file name. Open Microsoft® Word or an Adobe® program for your template and select File > Open to navigate to the drive and folder to open your template. Use the program's formatting and printing features to edit and save your template. For Microsoft® Word users - If the template looks like a blank page, select Table > Show Gridlines to view the template layout.

Can you save a text template to be put on your texts every time

Yes, it is actually called a signature. Go to your message settings and you should see signature option, select that and then add the text you want to be on your messages. But make sure that your signature is turned ON in your message settings. Hope this helps!

Word 2007 saves and closes normal.dotm everytime I close it. It doesn't ask for anything, but it shows as an opened document in Word and start menus list.

It could mean that the normal.dot file is corrupt.

Try this:

1. Do a search for normal.dot
2. when found, change the name to "normal.dot.old"
3. restart your machine

Using drop-down form field in a word 2007 template

You need to protect the form (Protect Document, Editing Restrictions (Filling in Forms) then Start Enforcing Protection, the drop down menu will then work.
