Good Morning Jim Cole, thank you for your post!

From what you are describing it sounds like it could be an issue within your control panel or door switch. I would recommend having a technician out to properly diagnose your Frigidaire microwave to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

SOURCE: Microwave automatically comes "on" when door is closed, but no heat.

I have the R-1460 in the same series with the identical symptoms. After reading MicrowaveSvc's solution I started taking apart to view the door switches and found the upper door switch to be the problem, but not a switch failure a support failure. A small bottom plastic support post that holds the switch in place was broken (probably from repeated use/abuse) allowing the switch to move when the door hooks were engaged, thus not actuating the button switch. Since the problem was mechanical rather than an electrical bad switch, I made a small support arm for the switch from an old plastic mechanical pencil and glued it in place to hold the switch in its correct position. Problem solved, microwave works! Thanks to MicrowaveSvc's description of door switches.

SOURCE: Panasonic Microwave Turn table rotates when door is open

Found this Panasonic post in the Samsung section!

If it moves just a tiny bit when the door opens and then stops, that's normal.

If it keeps running when the door is open, that's usually due to a bad door switch or broken / loose door switch mount.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Any Panasonic parts not available locally can be had here: http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr

SOURCE: error code F6

Please post back with your your full model number. It will be three digits, then a dot, then about eight more digits.

Once we have that, we can figure out who made it for Kenmore, then look up the F6 code.

Happy to help.

SOURCE: Microwave oven runs with door open

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Why does turntable rotate with door open?

The door switch could be stuck in the closed/on position. The electronic circuits could be malfunctioning. When the door is open, I sure hope than the microwaves cooking are not "ON". That could result in a very dangerous situation for you.

Turntable turns when door opened

This is usually caused by a defective door switch, or it may be out of aligment. Since there are a few of them a digital meter is required to troubleshoot the problem area. If you have the equipment I well describe how to test them.

Does not heat food-master relay reset, all electric OK (fan runs, time & all other settings show OK, turntable rotates), door closed tightly, control lock

THere are three possibilities, open magnetron "heats food" cracked high voltage diode, or a shorted high voltage capacitor.

I have a model number EM925RSL-B and the timer counts down but it does not heat up or turntable does not move?

I just bought an RV with the exact same microwave and the exact same problem. The problem with mine is the switch that detects that the door is closed is not getting activated. The reason for this is is the finger at the top of the door is damaged as well as the plastic piece that the finger grabs onto when the door is closed. This causes the finger not to come into contact with the switch. To test this you can turn your microwave on and start it. open the door and using a small screwdriver, depress the micro switch you can see upper right side of the door opening. then press start again. your turntable will start turning and the microwave will make a louder noise as a fan will turn on. CAUTION! Release the button as soon as you see the turntable rotation as you will be receiving microwave energy due to the door being opened.

Firgidaire Microwave fan runs when door is closed. Model FMV157GS

I'd bet the fan and / or turntable also run when the door is closed, which means you have a shorted relay on the control board, which can be repaired for $39.95 in most cases. Details are here.

My sharp R-798 has stopped heating food and the turntable no longer rotates?

Please check your door safey interlock micro switches.

If you need help with this, please let me know.

What frequently happens is because you probably open the door while the oven is running, (like most of us do) the little micro switches get burned and eventually cannot tell the oven that the door IS, indeed, closed. When the door is "open" (forget that you know the door is closed - the MACHINE needs to know it too) the oven will not turn on the heat.

If you need more info, let me know please.

Turntable sometimes works, mostly doesn't

It sounds like you have a jamming turntable motor.

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

Turns on by itself and turntable does not rotate

You may have a control board issue. Thank God for safety switches.
This is a problem that an integrated circuit tech. can repair, but it may be costly.
Decide how much you want to put into this oven vs. buying a new one.

Contact me once you decide and I can help you find a service center.

Thank you,

Microwave Oven Problem

Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure. It's probably not actually heating with the door open, but better safe than sorry! If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
