My Radeon card isn't recognizing the monitor and Catalyst won't read its full resolution (1024 x 768).

I was given a Dell monitor and already have its driver pack installed (.inf .cat .icm). The problem is that Catalyst isn't seeing my RADEON HD 2400 adapter card, and it won't upgrade the resolution beyond 640px. How can I get the full resolution? IS THE MONITOR DEAD?

Hello there
The HD 2400 is a pretty old card and I doubt it will give brilliant graphics.or will it run DX11
However.
1)Have you disabled the 'on-board' graphics in your BIOS settings ? Your computer will not recognise it if the old on board chip is enabled.
2) Have you tried connecting the 2400 using the 15 pin video connector ?
3) You say it isnt 'recognising' the hd2400 and yet you are saying the monitor is working at 640 !!!! Which is it. Does the monitor work on the old onboard output or the HD2400 ?
4) The version of catalyst depends on your operating system and whether 32 or 64 bit.
Use the right one via here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
and uninstall the old one first..
5) If the monitor does not work at all on the HD2400 try the card in a different PCI slot.
6) ALWAYS check after you start the PC that in 'Device Manager' that the display adapter (hd2400) is recognised.
7) run ' DXDIAG ' to see how good the monitor is. (type in dxdiag the start orb search box)

I have Radeon HD 5450 2GB DDR3 Video card, which resolution of moniter would support this video card

This video card has a max resolution of 2560x1600, so generally any LCD or LED monitor on the market should work for it. If you want to have it work at it's maximum though I would recommend a bigger monitor or you won't be able to read anything on the screen. Personally I use a 32" at 1360x768, not the highest resolution but it is what I am comfortable with.

I am getting stretched images and text on my new LCD Dell monitor 19"

The resolution on your computer isnt set properly to the monitors native. Right click on your desktop and depending on your OS you will either see screen resolution or properties. Adjust until your screen no longer seems stretched.

Either that or your experiencing what is called over-scan. To solve this issue you need to go into your video-cards settings and change them. If you have nvidia then this will be rather easy. Simply search in your start menu for nvidia or in your bottom right hand corner you should see a green slanted eye looking icon when hovered over says nvidia control panel. In there look for the option "adjust desktop size and position"

With radeon drivers (catalyst) its equally as simple, search for catalyst or a red icon in the bottom right hand corner that says catalyst or radeon control panel. From there repeat the steps above.

How to set the refresh rate of a RAdeon X850 XT?

Open Catalyst and in it select the 'Displays Manager' item, and then at the bottom of the page you can select a refresh rate higher than 60Hz (if supported) for particular resolutions. Make sure you don't select a refresh rate beyond your monitor's capabilities as this will result in an 'out of frequency' error and can damage your monitor.

How can i get 1440 X 900 resolution from 9200?

Max Resolution: 2048 x 1536, the card can handle the resolution you want.

Update Control Catalyst/Drivers then try changing resolution. If you are still not able to, check to see if your monitor is compatible with that resolution

Cant utilize extended monitor function in XP w/ onboard chipset as other VGA out

You cannot use both the onboard video and a separate card at the same time. Are you trying to use multiple monitors? Your video card must support that if you are, and the Radeon 7500 does not mention that it does. If it does, the ATI Catalyst drivers will have the option.

Low brightness on second monitor using Radeon X1300 video adapter

According to the X1300 specifications here it does support multiple displays. The option to configure the display is found in the Catalyst application. Do you have the latest version of that? You can get it from their website.

Upgrading graphics card

according to the manufacture your card has the resolution up to 2048 X 1536 that is higher than what the monitor is telling you to set your resolution to. try going into your display options and ajust the resolution down to 1600 X 900. Also since your monitor is a dell an new it should come with an set-up disk for that monitor that should once intalled set the monitor to the correct graphics setting for you so you do not have to go through and do it manually. did your come with a disk? If not here is the link to download the drivers for your monitor.
