Is there a replacement stylus/cartridge for the Califone 1477K? Everything else on mine is mint. I'd love to fix it.

It has the 33/45 flip to 78 cartridge stylus on it. Even if I could only play 33 it would be great to get it going again.

Every cartridge has a maker and model number. You find them and enter it in google and it should come up with both.

However you don't have to have the same make of cartridge. You just need to find one that fits. You do need to bear in mind however that some of the cartridges that use 78 rpm stylus sometimes are Ceramic cartridges. This means that they don't need a pre-amp for it to be the same level as say a tape deck. Many cartridges these days are Magnetic. This means that if your amp doesn't have a pre-amp for these built in, then getting one of these cartridges will mean a purchase of a magnetic cartridge pre-amp. Some of these magnetic types of cartridge have no ability to fit a 78 stylus. In others you can get a 78 stylus available separately.
For example the Stanton 500 has this ability. One I use too!
The reason you might want to get a magnetic cartridge is that they give better sound quality over the ceramic type - well on 33 and 45 anyway!

Replaced with brand new HP cartridges. If either one (black or color) is a refilled cartridge, my machine has issues.

I have a Califone 1410 K and would like to hook it up to my stereo receiver. Can anyone tell me if this will work and, if so, what kind of cord I need for the external speaker jack? Thanks so much!

a big plug jack would work, like the kind used for guitars to amplifiers. I have one a friend of mine made for me (he works in a music shop) and it goes in the "external speaker" hole to the amp pretty simple.

About 11 months ago I bought an Elliptical upgrade stylus for the PL-990 and it worked great. Recently, it started giving me problems. The left channel would be very distorted and also would fade in and...

Very odd! Sounds like it's not fitting in right. Are you sure that you have the right type of stylus for the cartridge? If in doubt replace the entire cartridge & Stylus. If it still plays up then it's in your amp after that course of action.

My turntable does not have good sound? Is it the stylus needle?

It could be, first check all connections as they can come loose. It could also be the cartridge, the only way to find out is to get a new one. If you get a cartridge and stylus, you can fit the new stylus to your old one, if that solves the problem, you have a spare cartridge in stock, if it doesn't then replace the cartridge. If that doesn't work and the connections are good, then there is a fault on the magnetic cartridge pre-amp in your amp.

I have a Califone 1620 model economy classroom phonograph in need

Probably a bad relay switch. Open up the turntable. Identify the motor that spins the table. Follow the wires of that motor to, perhaps, some type of little circuit board with a relay. I have a Backley-Cardy 322-487 classroom phonograph which uses a Califone 1620 amp and a BSR turntable. To get the table to spin, you have to move the tone arm. Mine doesn't move and I'm in the process of replacing the faulty relay that is the problem.

How do you fix a frozen flip video ultra?

I fixed mine! When I turned it on it only had the flip logo on the screen & it would only shut off if I took the batteries out. I tried everything - holding the on switch for 30 sec, holding the record button & the on switch for 30 sec, deleting every bit of data from the camera, reinstalling the software onto the camera, leaving the batteries out for a month... I took it apart & found a burnt spot on the motherboard. I scraped it with a pocket knife, put it back together & now it works like new!

Needle replacement...missing part?

To replace the stylus (N-6516 from your Sony dealer)

1.Turn off the amplifier
2. Protect the stylus with the stylus cover (it flips down 90 degrees)
3. Grasp the stylus holder (exposed when cover was flipped down) and pull it away from the cartridge body
4. Insert the stylus by pushing it in to the cartridge receptacle. Flip the stylus protector up.
