The Record level indicator on the display no longer appears, and the record level is all over the place. Recordings are distorted and have nasty clicks.
I think your unit is in "agc" mode. (not covered in the manual) Look for the letters AGC (very small) in the display. You can toggle in and out of this mode with the rec and stop keys although I forget the press sequence off hand. This will take it back to the mode it was in when you bought it.
Hello there,
Well from what I can find, it seems to be owned by another company called Gemini.
Their website has the manual for your machine under LEGACY PRODUCTS http://geminisound.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/RM3-USERMANUAL-UPDATE.pdf
If I were you, I would certainly raise a support ticket here to at least see if your machine DOES have new firmware available or even if they can assist in finding your problem.

THe "undocumented" AGE was stuck on.
Second try. The "undocumented AGC" was on. 1. Insert a record-able medium that has free space into the RM3 and power it up. 2, Wait until unit has completed it's boot up sequence. 3. Press and Hold the Record key 4. Press and hold the stop key 5. Release the stop key 6. Release the record key 7. The AGC will now toggle to the opposite mode from what it was. I cycled power and the record now works fine.
