Do you have a multimeter and are comfortable taking some voltage tests inside the TV? You have a possibility of 3 issues causing the problem you're seeing, power board, main board or backlights but without some voltage readings it's a toss-up as to where the issue is
A lot of money when they were new, but you can't buy them now, it is 18 years old and obsolete, plus OLD technology. 86" 4k UHDTV flat panels are the way to go now. Don't buy 18 year old televisions.

What are you trying to watch? If you are looking at a cable TV box or DVD player through an HDMI input, you will have to adjust the settings in the cable box or DVD menus to match your tv's HDMI input capabilities.
