Same microwave built september 2005, in use since 11/05. Started last month making a beeping sound while not in use, displayed the lock symbol and continued for awhile. Opened the door a couple of times and pressed cancel a few times and it still continued. Unplugged it over night and it seemed ok for a few days, used it a couple of times and then it started all over again. Read on line about its history and awaiting a service call from a local appliance repair company. Called Kitchenaid and was told it was four years old...what did I expect? Should not tell you my response here. Further reading tells me that all of my KitchenAid appliances costing over $5500 (on sale mind you)together in a kitchen remodel in 2005 must all ready to die an early death. Would be cheaper to eat out than to buy another KitchenAid.

Update number 2: Service call on Friday by Mulligan Appliance out of Avon. He indicates that the connections were corroded. He finds this to be a common problem given the location of the microwave over the stove top. He cleaned the connections and it seems to be working just fine. Fingers crossed here.KitchenAid Microwave KHMS155LSS3 Serial TRS3734784

The SE indicates a short in the keypad membrane, but to cure this! the whole keypad control board should be changed if effort to resolve is decided, I would also suggest checking the pricing.
Many models of the GE microwave have sensors that can detect humidity
from the foods you are cooking. This allows the microwave to make
adjustments to the power levels used to cook your food. If "Sensor
Error" appears, you should either press "Clear" to cancel the mode or
leave the food in the appliance longer to give the microwave more time
to detect the food.
Press "Time Cook" to manually enter the time
if you receive an error message when trying to use the "Sensor Reheat"
mode of your GE microwave. The error message may be caused by the food
item being too large or too small to detect.
these are some other code error that will help you in case of next time.
Step 1
Press "Off/Cancel" (or "Cancel/Off" depending on your model)
to clear the error code. Note the code if it reappears.
Step 2
Replace the touchpad if the code displayed is "F0," "F7" or
"F10." A function key is stuck or shorted.
Step 3
Replace the touchpad or the clock (ERC) if the code "F1" is
displayed. Disconnect the ribbon connector to the touchpad. If no code
is displayed after an hour, replace the touchpad. If the code displays
again, replace the clock.
Step 4
Replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is
displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven
temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven
temperature sensor or shorted or open.
Step 5
Replace the ERC if "F5," F6" or "F8" is displayed. The ERC is
the main control unit. "F5," F6" and "F8 are codes that indicate
problems in the ERC functions.
Step 6
Inspect the door-lock assembly and circuit if "F9" is
displayed. The door must lock when the oven is in use. If the lock
mechanism is not functioning or if the detection circuit is
malfunctioning, the stove will display "F9."
jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){
var $this = jQuery(this);
$this.find('img').error(function(){
jQuery(this).remove();
$this.remove();
});
}); NOTE:
"F3" codes mean your oven temperature sensor has failed or shorted out.
The only thing you can do is to replace the sensor.
hi,
The F2 code is a keyboard failure. Since it's intermittent I would check for a loose wire/connection. open the control panel and reset the ribbon cable on the circuit board....
The F2 error code on your microwave oven is a membrane failure. It is recommended that you replace the membrane first & if you still have problems to replace the control board.

I started having the same problem with my KBMC140HSSO. You cannot see the error codes without disassembling the control panel (the codes are on another display that covered by the front panel). After doing so I found the error code to be F2, E3 which is "Key held down too long, or key shorted". I am ordering a replacement keypad and will report back if this fixes the problem.
