Bleach dispenser fills with water during the wash cycle

The bleach dispenser uses capillary action to dispense the bleach, so it fills with water to start the process. If the two tubes that are in the dispenser are gummed up, it will not work. Take them apart and clean thoroughly. Water goes into dispenser whether their is bleach added or not.

Washer leaks a little water when I put in a full load in it. Also leaks bleach when poured into dispenser. This is a top loader

Do you now where the leak is coming from? You may have to remove the outside sheet metal to observe the motor and tub. More than likely, the leak may be caused by a faulty pump or a seal in the pump.

If the machine overfills, you can get water on the floor as well, but you would notice that the machine appears too full.

The leaky bleach dispenser probably just needs to be removed, inspected and thoroughly cleaned. Water gets pumped thru it and any clog or problem with the pathway the water follows can cause overflow or a leak. BUT deal with the water problem first, that's the most important. A leaky pump will only get worse.

Also check the hose connections on the back of the washer. Old and cracked rubber washers can allow water to leak.

Maytag Bravos XL HE Leaks Adjacent to Bleach Dispenser, how do I fix this?

Fill it with water by hand and see what happens. Tape paper towels in the suspected area. Makes it easier to see. Part 2 ans: so the water is over powering the drain...that sucks. You are right, the valve is probably letting too much water out. I don't know if it is adjustable but I do know it'll probably cost a lot for an itty-bitty brass valve. If money is not a problem replace the valve. If you are a DIY'er, I'd try to use some sort of clamp on the hose leading into the dispenser and close it just enough to slow the flow down. Another idea is to open the drain up by cutting away some of the screen if it has one. A better source than me is to go to repairclinic.com and email them. They have a lot more experience than me. I did appliance repair as a side to handyman for 20 years & fixed just about everything for 50. I never had any formal training.

How do I get the bleach dispenser to drain?

Hello Denise C - There are several things that could cause the bleach to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is bleach? If it is pure bleach, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the bleach dispenser with water. The bleach dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.

When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the bleach solenoid is energized and water flows into the bleach dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and bleach and water flow into the tub.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is pure bleach you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the bleach solenoid and a volt meter is required.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. Scum will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the bleach and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub.

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.

To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the bleach compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out. You may also test the fabric softener compartment the same way.

I do hope this information proves to be helpful.

Remove the screws on the back of the top and lift the top off. Pour water into the bleach dispenser and watch to see where the leak is coming from. Post back your findings.

Maytag top loader slight leak from bottom left corner

Thank you for responding. Yes we fixed the problem. After taking off the front cover noticed the hose from the liquid bleach dispenser (which I never use) was not connected. Evidently when using the extra large load a little water would splash into the bleach dispenser, hence the small amount at bottom front left corner where dispenser is located. So simple! Glad I didn't pay for someone to attach the hose. Thanks again for your timely response. Lynn

Timed bleach dispeners

You could have a number of things that could cause this problem. Most likely it will be one of 2. The first and most likely is the water valve. This machine has a series of water inlet valves and the one that activates the bleach water could be bad or just have a wire off. Second, you could have a bad timer. If the tube coming from the dispenser was stopped up then you would have an over flow from the dispenser.

Water overflowing out of dispensers

Sounds like there is a clog in the bleach dispenser or it is bad and needs to be replaced. First thing to try is cleaning the washer out. Run about a cup of vinegar in the washer. Pour it into the bleach dispenser and the tub and all the other dispensers too. Run it on hot water on a heavy load. This will clean out all of the hoses and if there are any clogs it will fix them. This can be done every month or so to keep it clean. If this doesn't work however it means that the bleach dispenser is bad. It has a timer set to it to open up when it's time, that wire harness that hooks into it is just causing the problem. Hopefully though all it needs is a good cleaning. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful. Good luck and have a good rest of the weekend.

Whirlpool bleach dispenser not dispensing properly

It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.

There is a water leak coming from the front of the washer...its leaking from where the water dispenses during a wash cycle. What could have caused this?

are you sure it's dispenser and not pump if your sure it's the dispenser try cleaning it out ..if's it has a bleach dispenser on right side pull the outer cover off and clean the holes underneath it i assume it's a top load ..if it's a front load remove dispenser completely clean it and inside of housing also ck the line into the tub just above door opening than can become plugged especially with dry detergent
