You need to loosen the nut on the side of the chainsaw and then take the cover off. Remove the bar and take the chain off. Then put the chain back on the bar being careful about the direction of the chain. Place the chain back over the sprocket and lower the bar back onto the plate making sure the hole lines up with the adjusting mechanism on the cover. After you line up them up put the nuts back on and loosely tighten them. Adjust the chain where it is almost tight and then tighten up the nuts.

SOURCE: chain not engaged when the chainsaw is running and brake is off

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART....with the clutch cover, chain and bar removed, start the saw. with a gloved hand, hold the clutch and squeeze the throttle. if the sprocket engages/turns...its not the clutch.

let me know what you find.

SOURCE: ryobi gas chainsaw- chainsaw brake is stuck on. How do I release

You just have to pull the lever back, like it was on the saw, until it clicks/unlocks. It may be hard to do, but thats what has to be done.

SOURCE: How do you put a chain back onto a chainsaw

on one side of the saw are two nuts and a chain tightener screw. loosen the nuts but don't take them off. turn the tightening screw counter clockwise. the bar should slide backwards. the chain goes over the clutch disk and the tangs go into the bar groove. just keep pressing the tangs into the bar all the way to the tip and around the tip sprocket. now turn the adjustment screw clockwise which will tighten the chain. don't tighten it too much! leave a little "play" - tighten down the nuts. plug in the saw and start it. if the saw has a chain oiler press the oiler a few times. as you use the saw the chain will expand and loosen. loosen the nuts and tighten it again just a little.

SOURCE: I have a Husqvara 550 chainsaw. After chain popped and I put it back on, the chain won't move. It's on the gear and everything. Is there a brake or something preventing the chain from mov

There will be a chain brake, grab the brake handle and pull it firmly back to the top handle, this should didd engage the brake, if the chain has de railed the drive lonks will have burs on them which will make it tight in the bar, you need to file all these burs off.

What is the chain brake an where

not on the older chainsaws
newer ones it s normally the black lever you hold
Check the Chain Brake
Make sure the chain brake is working properly by putting the chainsaw on a stable surface. Release the chain brake, squeeze the throttle and then activate the chain brake by pushing your left wrist against the kick back protection without releasing the handle. This should cause the chain to stop rotating immediately.

How to put chain back on when it falls off

Almost every saw has a cover where the bar locks onto the saw, you take off the cover just as you do if you needed to remove the bar.

Just loosen the two or one bolts that hold the bar and slide the bar back, put on the chain and slide the bar back out.

Now there is suppose to be some play, the chain is not suppose to be very tight.

Here is what it suppose to be like.

Read this link that I post, it's easier to read this then me trying to explain it.

How do you rePlace the chain on the 455 rancher?

You take the chain cover off of the bar. It is two nuts. Take them off and the cover will come off. Slide the bar toward you and the chain will become slack. You can then slide off the chain from the sprocket. To put a new one on. You will need to turn the chain adjustment back all the way to the left. Then put the chain back over the sprocket, then onto the bar. Put the chain cover back on and tighten the chain back up. Then tighten the two nuts back to tight.

Bought a Homelite 14" electric chainsaw. After

I am not sure if you have figured out how to put the chain back on your saw or not, but it doesn't take long.
1. Remove the plastic yellow "T" shaped nut on the right side of the saw (towards the front of the motor housing)
2. Remove the black plastic housing that covers the rear section of the bar and chain
3. Place the chain back onto the bar making sure it is facing the correct direction.
4. Place the chain over the rear sprocket area
5. Turn the +/- yellow plastic knob (towards the back of the saw on the right side) in the - direction until the metal guide inside the plastic casing lines up with the hole in the chainsaw bar
6. Replace the black plastic housing and slightly tighten the yellow "T" shaped nut.
7. Now turn the +/- knob until the chain is tight. Once the chain is tight, turn the "T" nut until it is tight and you are ready to cut again.
