Tried what blkghost suggested above but had to tweak his advice slightly.

Turn off power to the printer and unplug it from the back of the printer.

Insert the power cord back into the printer. You will hear some clicks and motors moving. Pull out the cord again when this happens.

Open the cartridge bay by pulling the face forward and lifting the bay door up. The cartridge carousel most likely will not come to the center.

trying physically pulling the carousel to the middle. (NOT BY THE RIBBON CABLE) If you can not pull it to the middle push it far right as possible. Listen for a click.

After pushing to the right and hearing a click you should then be able to pull the carousel towards the middle easily. Remove the ink cartridges and power up the printer again.

You will receive an error along the lines of black cartridge missing. Open the bay, insert the cartridges, close the bay.

YAY problem fixed.

SOURCE: Lexmark T62 Error 32- Unsupported print cartridge

Hi Sue,
Firstly, switch on the printer without a cartridge inside. Put in the old cartridge and if you get the Error 32, it could be poor contact. Clean the contacts in the printer (contact with the chip on the cartridge). If you don't get Error 32, there could be a problem with the chip contacts on the new OEM Lexmark cartridge or a faulty chip. As for other brands or remanufactured cartridges, it could be compatible parts they used. The chip and toner wheel have to be compatible.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Cannot print with Lexmark x4875, Windows Vista OS.

You need to cancel all print jobs for a printer, you must have permission to manage documents on the printer.

1. Open printers by clicking the "Start" button , clicking "Control Panel," clicking "Hardware and Sound," and then clicking "Printers."

2. To open the print queue, double-click the printer you are using.

3. Click the "Printer" menu, and then click "Cancel All Documents." Depending on the printer, the item currently printing might finish, but the remaining items will be cancelled.

Next, you may have to change the communication format called the "Spool format."
Please follow the steps given below to change the spool data format:
1. Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound" and "Printers."
2. Then, right click on the Lexmark printer icon and left click "Properties."
3. Either on the "Advanced" tab or the "General" tab for some models, there is a "Print Processor" button, left click it.
4. This is the spool format setting. Under "Print processor" it should be set to "Lexmark 4800 series print processor." Next, under "Default datatype," select "NT EMF 1.008."
5. Click "OK" and exit back out to your desktop.
6. Please try printing again.
If this does not help the situation, please describe any differences it does make.

X2600 printer has EC5 problem

The error indicates that there is a short in one if the cartridges. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:

  1. Make sure the printer is on.
  2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
  3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  7. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

The EC5 error code indicates a short has been detected in one of your cartridges. Open the printer and remove both cartridges. Close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the cover and check for any errors. Open the printer cover again and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to pop up. Or you can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

I just replaced my ink cartiges and now it's flashes E C 5

Hello. You can check the error codes that Lexmark printers show on this web page . . . . .
http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=SO4438&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&userlocale=EN_US&segment=SUPPORT&productCode=&searchid=1275158659149
If your inks are new, just take the cartridge back to the supplier as sometimes a new one can be defective slightly.
Most likely though, the error can be got around by taking the cartridge back out, and finding its copper contacts panel, and very very gently cleaning that with something suitable. Make sure that you DO NOT get any cleaning fluid on the actual print nozzles as this will cause chaos when printing later.
I use foam cleaner, or SERVICOL spray to clean such things when working on them.
I hope that helps.

I refilled my Lexmark cartridge but it continues to say I need to install a new cartridge. The printer model is x2670.

Hello there,

The reason why your Lexmark printer keeps on telling you to install new cartridge because the printer have ink cartridge detection. Meaning it will detect whether that particular cartridge is an old one or not.

Each Ink Cartridges have its code and it will be registered to the printer once you have connected it. The printer will assume the ink level and once it is empty, that particular Lexmark Ink Cartridge will be registered to your printer as an empty ink cartridge and needed to be replace with a new one.

I would suggest getting a genuine new cartridge instead of refilling the ink cartridges.
