The phone number is connected to the sim card and the text (mail) is connected to the internet, more precise to your google account.
On your new phone, downed the google app and setup your account on the new phone. You don't need to delete the account on the old phone, to do so. Google will notice you are using a new device and send you some warnings, because the don't know you are setting up the account on another device. Just ignore the messages. When you have to google account up and running on the new phone. just switch off the old phone and do all the messaging on the new phone.

SOURCE: cannot copy contacts from phone to sim card

previously check the phonebook memory status of ur sim it might be full some old simcard provides very less contact storage varies from 10 - 250 for newer sims if sim is full then u can not copy contacts in it
or if it is not though then u can check ur sim by copying contact from inserting it in another phone if it works then ur mobile is faulty
Or check it vice versa

'Insert SIM'

If you are trying to use an old sim-card from another phone you may find that it won't recognize it.

The older sim cards just aren't up to the job the newer handsets require so now we have more powerful and higher voltage sim-cards.

Try a sim card from a friend with a new handset and see if that works in your phone.

You may have to go get a new sim.

CANT SEND MESSAGES

Your phone is fine.

You need a new sim.

Older sims aren't up to the demands of newer handsets anymore so they brought out more powerful and higher voltage sims.

Go to your local mobile phone shop and explain your problem to them and they should be able to sort you out a new sim. :)

Hello,

This error is due to having an old SIM card.
Please talk to your carrier to get the latest SIM card.
You most likely have received an old SIM card batch.

Hope it helped.
