Toyota corolla hatch 2002 idle at 2000 rpm when

Either the engine is not warming up fast enough (thermostat stuck open) or the sending unit is slow on the transmission of temp info to ecm.

It only revs up when u start the first in the morning? If so, it is normal, once it warm up it will back below 1000 rpm.

i crank car.
it starts, engine idles at 1000 to 1500 rpm cold. good
it don't misfire or shake (tuneups work)
i shift in to gear. Drive. or reverse.. car dont move
i step on gas, and RPM goes way high and car will not move.
there is my guess. correct my errors.
or post yours.

R u start the car in cold morning or any cold condition? If so, it is normal revs up itself. Sometimes I see some cars revs up to 2000 rpm for 2 to 5 mins, then drop down to 1000 rpm.

Did they replace the idle air control valve ?

It could be your mass air flow censer sometimes when the censer goes bad it sends incorrect readings to your ecu causing inaccurate fuel distribution.

might be a lazy idle air control motor, if it only does it on start up not a problem

Possible weak alternator output or weak battery.

It appears the car may not be entering tuneup mode. warm up until temp is normal, idle stays below 1000 rpm
2000 rpm for 2 minutes
rev engine 2-3K three times
idle for one minute
turn off
disconnect tps
start
rev 2-3K three times
adjust timing

This is a bad throttle position sensor
