Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts

if you need more help with this post a reply

hope this helps you

Flash drive can not be detected when installed on a desktop with an XP operating system. flash drive is recognized on several other desktops with XP, but not my computer. is it a driver issue? if so, can...

Hi john_nelson0,

First check the other USB ports. Try it in the USB ports on the back of the computer. If that doesn't help then make sure you have the latest WinXP service pack installed. Although it is possible to have a problem with the drivers, they are built into Windows and are not available for download from Kingston. Do any other USB drivers work on that computer?

Driver needed for 2gb kingston usb

If it is Win XP with SP1 ( check this - tight click My Computer, click Properties and check if it is Service Pack 1), then you need the latest SP from microsoft (that is SP3).

WinXP not recognizing USB drives, the SP is the most common cause I  have seen. Update to SP3 and it should solve your problem.
