I have however somehow got further and am able to transfer files onto my mp3 player. However the computer will still not detect any of the files that are already on the mp3 - except the few that i have only just put on.
Everytime i potentially get close to finding them the thing crashes!
Help please! I also have this exact same problem!

Wont detect the player, The Player seems to have died as it wont turn on.Wont detect the player, The Player seems to have died as it wont turn on.

Do you have media player 11 installed? It wont work with media player 11.
Also make sure you have no traces of media player 11. When you roll back from 11 to 10 it still leaves a trace of media player 11. Check your add/remove programme setttings carefully to make sure there is no reference to media player 11. If there was and you have removed it, restart your computer.

The MP3 player is charged by connecting the supplied USB cable to the
MP3 player and then plugging the other end of the USB cable into the USB
port of a working computer. This cable is also used to copy music files, video and photos to the MP3 player from the computer.
Do you mean the cable to connect to your computer's USB port? You can purchase a wall charger that has a USB port. You can also purchase a cigarette lighter plug with USB port to operate/charge your player in your car.
Go to www.ebay.com and put in the name and model of your player in the search panel.
I went there and I saw over 200 sync cables for your Samsung YP K3 MP3 player.
You will need a USB data/sync cable. One end will plug into your MP3 player, the other end will plug into the computer USB port for charging and downloading music to your player.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps
Try a different usb port first, then try another computer (with a compatible OS, of course). If another computer will not recognize it, then the player is actually damaged.
When the YP-K3 2 gb device is plugged into the USB Port, the system
says "Found New Hardware, Samsung YP-K3" which then switches to "MTP
Device" and then fails on an MTP error. It seems to be searching for a
driver, and cannot find one. H E L P!!!!!
You can easily get usb powerplugs for a few pounds from high street electrical shops or online retailers. It costs a few pounds. Why I even buy really cheap mp3 players on ebay for about £14 and they come with the usb power plug. The powerplugs are more useful than the players :)
1. You can download the software from the samsung website
2. The usb message is nothing - it is just telling you that you have a USB 1.1 hub but you well get better transfer speeds using a USB 2 hub, or you can connect it to a usb port directly
