Refrigerator not cold/Freezer cold.

Kenmore Bottom Freezer about 10 years old.

Refrigerator running but not cold. Freezer section plenty cold. Doesn't matter where the thermostat is set. Nothing blocking vents. No air flowing from vents though. Light goes off when switch is pressed.

I'm thinking thermostat switch or refrigerant coolant - yes? If it's the coolant I'm very handy and feel I can fix.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .

.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

Freezer and refridgerator stopped getting cold but is still running.

Honestly, if the unit is over 10 years old, buy new to pay for itself in energy savings. Usually the thermostat is the first problem. Thw second is the compressor. The compressor usually takes months to show signs of weakness, but the thermostat is more sensitive, and will go belly up first.

Refrigerator is warm but bottom freezer works fine. It is a Kenmore with a bottom freezer and is about 10 years old

Listen to see if the fan motor is running, without the fan the air cannot circulate to the top refrigerator. If it is running then look for the baffle assy and see why its not opening. The baffle is a small door that opens and closes to keep the air going to the refrigerator from getting to cold. Basically its how the thermostat regultes the temperature in the refrigerator. Opening the baffle when it needs cold air and closing it when its cold enough. Finally check the back wall of the freezer and see if there is frost all over the back wall. If there is frost all over the back wall you are dealing with a defrost issue. Hope this helps

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

Refrigerator not cool, freezer ok

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).

Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator not cooling

yes do the check for the baffle. set the controoler for the thermostat to off and the freezer to the coldest setting while have the doors open. take the cover off the baffle and observe if its closed . should close in 10 seconds, also the compressor should be on, as should the evaporator fan and the condenser fan. turn the controls the oposite and the baffle should open. Also make sure that you have seperation of product so that you haev adequate air flow in frig.

Fridge does not stay cold

If the compressor is running continually, could be short of gas , or a compressor problem, ie not pumping properly, make sure it has plenty of ventilation
