Hi
Open the door on the right. The brew unit is the thing with the handle that has the "press" on it. You need to push on the upper left side of the brew unit until it clicks. There is an outlet spout on the opposite side of where you are pushing. It goes into an intake port that needs to be lubed(food gade only), so the outlet spout will slide in without pushing back. That should take care of the missing brew unit.
Check the micro switch that the brew unit hit when it enters the machine. Sometimes the lever arm on the switch breaks off, and the switch will no longer work. Click the link for a picture of the micro switch.
Remove the brew unit there is a small chamber under the white plastic valve, clean chamber of coffee grounds and water, there is also a small discharge to drain tray make sure it is not blocked.
It sounds like the brew unit is stuck with the platform tipped forward. This will prevent the dreg drawer from being put in or out. Your problem could be the result of a few things. Some you can fix, some may take more work. You can get the brew unit out by following the steps outlined on a partsguru.com, Brew group removal.
