No reason being the perminent live that keeps the memory for the radio is obviously still feeding the CD side with ignition off.

SOURCE: cd/stereo not working

Hi, The "sec" could probably stand for security lock. It is a feature to discourage car stereo theft but is prooving to be more of an owner's problem when battery dies or are replaced or simply when disconnected for maintenance or whatever. The sad part is you have to get in touch with the original dealer of the car who would probably ask you for registration papers, proof of ownership (deed of sale), VIN, make/model/serial number of the stereo and/or other documents. I know its a bit of inconvenience but there is not other way since they have to check a database and fill in so many data themselves. I just hope the dealer is friendly enough. Good luck and kind regards.

Did you also use an antena adapter? If not you may need one. Original in the vehicle is small and can pop out from the radio.

My factory cd player in my 2001 chevy cavalier wont read cd's so i put a factory cd player from another chevy cavalier and now the screen says locked

Most radios and cd players in cars require a code to get them operating again after they have been disconnected from the battery for an extended time. Hopefully a dealer could help you locate the code for that model.

2001 cavalier died while driving, now it wont start

Could be failed fuel pump. Disconnect fuel line at engine and turn over a couple times having something to catch gas in. If electric pump don't turn over engine, just turn key to run position for a few seconds. Maybe clogged fuel filter or faulty pump if no gas shows. Change fuel filter and try again. If none, change pump.

The cd player has an errer and causes the player to continue runnung like it is tryng to eject the cd and runs down the battery

If it's a factory unit you're most likely outaluck...these are notoriously bad systems...try going to an automotive stereo shop and have them at least disconnect the power from it.

I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier and just recently my cd player keeps saying error. even when there isn't a cd in it. and it keeps making the noise that there is a cd inside even when the car is turned off....

If it's a factory CD I doubt cleaning it would help. I went through quite a few CD players for my 97 Cavalier. I would just get an aftermarket personally.

Chevy cavalier z24 theft system light on

This is a easy fix. Lucky just follow the procedure and your car will start. This is a theft system shut down.
The procedure is. Disconnect battery for a minimum of 30 seconds. ( one post is OK. )
Reconnect battery and get in the car and start as usual 1 time only. When it starts and stops letthe key just return to run position as if it was running. Do not shut it off and if you do you must stert the procedure all over again. i usually put on the emergency brake before i start and that shuts of the driving lights etc.
Just leave the key in on running position and go have a coffee. it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the car to recycle the system. When you come back to the car the flashing theft light will either be off or solid.
Try to start again. If it doesn't go shut it off and turn back on and start as usual. It will start and run and stay running.
The reason you have this problem is something electronic was disconnected whe the battery was hooked up. always disconnect the battery before you touch anything electronic and you will not have this problem.

Power light is on but there is no display

Taking out the battery would do just as much harm as holding the power button down would. This could make you lose some memory or even corrupt important files. But if you have truly tried everything else (even holding the power button down until it shut off) and it still did not shut off then you would need to take the battery out to be able to try and fix it.
If possible, I would take it to a computer shop to avoid the possible corruption of your important files.
