The wire inside the cord is likely torn ant it connects and disconnects as it is moved back and forth. This happened to me too. I just need to find where to get a new cord.

SOURCE: My Rowenta iron will not heat up. The yellow light

Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

SOURCE: Iron spits out rusty water. The iron is a Rowenta

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.

I took the iron apart for cleaning and installing a new cord and neglected to note which wire goes where. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this iron?

If the thermostate contacts are bad you can clean them with sand paper. You should test the flexibility of of them to allow the work properly under heat. If are the cord connections are bad replace the terminals with ones os the same size or replace the power cord.

My Rowenta iron was working fine the last time I used it. I plugged it in to use it today and nothing. The little red light on top comes on but the light on the side to let me know it is ready and hot...

Yes there is a solution, I have a DG580 with the same problem. I had to replace the electric cord which cost $17.00 and took 30 min to replace and now works like brand new.

Rowenta cord repair

I would get the part for your specific Rowenta iron from the Rowenta service center for this half of the US:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/
or tech service: service@californiaelectricservice.com

Then, if you do not want to send it there, go to local Applicance servicer you trust to have cord replaced locally if you prefer. I know it seems picky, but consumer products are UL approved, and I would not want loved ones working with a product I did not have serviced properly.

My Rowenta iron will only heat when plugged into one specific outlet (other things work in the outlets that the iron "doesn't like"), and sometimes it will only heat if you giggle the cord around a bit in...

My rowenta stopped heating , mid-shirt!!......now it seems dead and wont heat at all !.........thanks !!!

The most likely cause is a broken wire in the cord. Replacement should only be done by a qualified electrical appliance repairer. Ask for a quote as it may be cheaper to buy a new iron!
