Purchased a Great World Ltd electric fireplace at BigLots. Model is either SWEO71 or SWE071. The flame and dimmer features are not working. Just put it together and mounted on wall, turned on, and

Item is brand new. Assembled, mounted to wall. Reading from manual, we did step by step instructions for the first time using/turning on fireplace. The flames never appeared. The colors never appeared. Hard to know if the dimmer switch is working as there is NOTHING in view to dim. Heater works. Timer works.

SOURCE: Gas fireplace pilot flame won't stay lit.

Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.

SOURCE: motor in dimplex fire/heater not turning

Hello. It could be possible that a piece or some of the foil that gives the flame effect has fallen down on the motor, that creates the heat. This could be causing the noise. I would not think this is an electrics problem.

I would ensure the electric fire is disconnected from any power supply and either open the heater myself or get a electrical specialist to have a look. Then you will see exactly what is happening. A piece of foil may be visible which is catching the motor.

If you decide to tackle the problem yourself write down how to put the heater back together as you take each part out. These parts would be covers etc. It can easily get confusing. That is important.

SOURCE: electric fireplace does not heat

I have a cheap electric fireplace bought in SuperCentre store-heater no longer works. It says its a one piece system. Can these heaters be replaced or repaired(probably made in China) or am i better off scrapping it and buying a new one?

Portable Heat Flame Electric Fireplace

Electric fireplaces are becoming more and more popular with today's homeowner's. The main advantage of the electric fireplace is generally portability, convenience, low initial cost is important. They also are a good choice when the looks are not as important as function.
Some electric fireplaces have simulated flames that give the look of traditional fireplaces. Another great option to include is a built-in fan to help distribute the heat more effectively. With some of these high end units it can be very hard to tell the difference between an electric fireplace and a wood burning stove. Along with this option may come a heatless setting the will give the look of flames but produce no heat. The remote control has also found its way to the fireplace market. There are many units that can be remotely controlled.
Electric fireplaces are generally cheaper than gas fireplaces. A good unit can be bought for about $500 (there are cheaper models available, but they tend to have fewer options and the flames are not as real looking). These fireplace units are fairly easy to install compared to a gas fireplaces or wood-burning stoves (both of which usually need flues to vent). If you can plug in an electric cord then this type of fireplace may be for you. The electric units are perfect for apartment buildings and condominiums. These places are not suitable for the traditional wood fireplace.
Just like other types of portable electric heaters, electric fireplaces will radiate heat very quickly extreme care must be taken to not have any combustibles too close to them.
You will see how an electric fireplace can transform any setting for you. The newest modern, advanced electric units have far more aesthetically appealing views. They might include fiber optic displays, or randomized lights designed to make the look of dancing flames.
Now whether you're living in a condo or apartment and can't have a real fireplace, the electric fireplace can be a great way to get some of the warmth and ambiance. Also remember that these units are very portable, so you can take them with you when it's time to move. Even though I have never been a big fan of electric fireplaces, because of the expense of their operation, I can see why they would be very popular with many apartment or condos owners.

Edited question for clarity. Moved category from Sewing Machines.

You need the model number BECAUSE there are so many.

Contact the 1-800 number and be sure to have the model number and the serial number. you will find those on the sticker by the mains wire.

The flame effect quit working in my Brittany Electric Stove Heater, Model #BESBY-1500. How can I get a replacement flame effect?

Typically the flame effect is accomplished when a motor turns a rod with polished metal strips on it. The strips then reflect the light onto the back of the glass. The the rod rotates, the reflection moves giving the effect of the flames moving. If the lights work on your unit then the motor has most likely stopped. It would need to be replaced. A quick internet search turned up nothing for that company so you may need to go back to the store where you purchased the unit to get the part. Once you have the part, you will need to disassemble the unit. Some units are simple (like removing the fake logs) and some units are more involved (like removing access panels from the back or bottom).
