How to use an electric shaver

If you are a using an electric shaver for the first time, I hope that this article will get you going. Proper techniques will ensure the best, closest shave possible. Maintaining the razor by properly cleaning and recharging it will also ensure that the razor works correctly and does not malfunction during use. Proper care and maintenance of the electric razor will also ensure that the razor will last for years to come. Consider this article as a shaving-best-practices template for your first electric shaver.

Firstly, clean your face and dry it. Electric shavers do a better job when your face is clean. Turn the electric razor on and begin shaving against the direction of hair growth, moving the shaving head linearly and in circles. Circular motion Stretch the skin with your other hand to make the hair stand up straighter so the razor blades shave closer.

After shaving, turn it off and rinse the cutting heads under warm water. You can also use jet clean system once a week to clean your shaver. Make sure that you charge it for the time specified in user manual. Overcharging may cause damage to the battery.

What is an electric shaver?

An electric shaver is a grooming device designed for shaving facial or body hair using mechanical blades driven by an electric motor. It typically consists of a set of oscillating or rotating blades enclosed behind a perforated metal foil or comb. The motor-powered blades move rapidly, capturing and cutting the hair that enters the perforations. Electric shavers are known for their convenience and efficiency, as they eliminate the need for water or shaving cream. They come in both foil and rotary designs, catering to different preferences, and are suitable for various hair types. Electric shavers are popular for providing a quick and comfortable shave, making them a common choice for individuals seeking a time-saving and modern grooming solution.1_3_2024_5_47_45_pm.jpg

I have a Philips Norelco 7310XL razor and I have a problem. I recently moved, and in the process, something happened, and my razor isn't working. When I turn the razor on, the blades turn slightly and then...

It sounds like maybe one of the blades is damaged and it is jamming the whole thing. Try taking apart the head assembly and then insert each head one by one turning the shaver on in between each one. This should identify if one is damaged and causing the problem

If you require new heads, you will find them at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

I have a Norelco model 7315 razor that I purchased in October 2009. In the last five weeks, in spite of being cleaned regularly, it developed a very unpleasant must odor that seems to emanate from the body...

It is very unlikely that the smell is coming from the body of the shaver. Have you completely removed the heads and thoroughly cleaned them individually with alcohol or shaver cleaner? If you are simply rinsing the blades under the faucet and have not removed them and thoroughly cleaned them, this is almost certainly the problem. The smell is decomposing hair and oils from your skin.

You may want to consider using a shaver cleaning product like the ones linked below from shaveroutlet.com

Razor will not take a charge, will only function when plugged in.

Sounds like the batteries are shot. They can be replaced if you're handy with a soldering iron.

The razor head comes loose from the two arms.

I had a similar problem where one of the side covers popped off. I was able to reattach it, by carefully aligning the spring and pushing back into place. If you've lost the pin, you're out of luck. Braun does not make these kinds of parts available for user servicing, unfortunately.

However, the 7000 series models are all compatible with each other in terms of motor, battery, and razor head armature. You could try locating a moderately used example on the cheap (maybe less than $20) and then cannibalize it for the parts you need.

Do NOT send it off to Braun for servicing, as you will be charged much more than the shaver is worth. If it comes to that, you're better off just going with an 8000 series shaver.
