Make sure you're using a supported memory card. See the table below for specifications:
Memory Card TypeMaximum Capacity
CompactFlash Card
(Type I and Type II--3.3V only)
8GB
Microdrive (3.3V only)
4GB
SD (Secure Digital)
2GB
MultiMediaCard
1GB
If you connect a compatible CompactFlash (CF) adapter that can read 8GB memory cards, you can also use the memory cards listed below (with a capacity up to 8GB):
You might have locked memory card. If not first try to connect memory card to PC with memory card reader and try to copy your stuff... then after you take all stuff try to format it.
Hello, The manual says the cable that comes with the Dynex CompactFlash Card Reader is a "USB A-type plug to mini-USB plug". However, this isn't very specific since there is a mini-usb A and mini-usb B. Please look at the following chart and compare it to the input on your Dynex.
Hi, you need to format your memory card to suit your camera. You can do this by following the instructions in your manual. This is a simple step and make's your memory card "compatible" with your camera. the option will be somewhere in your camera's settings. Regards
You may need to format the card. There should be a Format command in the Setup menu. To be more specific, one would need to know which model of Finepix camera you refer to.
"Write Protect" means that something is locked and your device (camera) cannot "write" to it's storage area. What type of "storage media" are you using? For example: the camera's internal memory, a CompactFlash card, a Memory Stick, an "xD-Picture Card" (micro, mini or regular sized), or a Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard. [Did you put something (a small plastic card of some sort) into a slot on the camera before or after turning it on? Those little cards usually have a tiny button (also called a switch or lever) on them that will move back and forth to lock (write protect) or unlock it. This sounds like the memory card inside your camera is locked or "Write Protected.
To fix this simply take it out, closely examine the memory for the button- the button will be closer to the word "lock" or "protect" and all you need to do is gently slide it in the opposite direction from where it currently is. Put it back into the camera and see if it still says "Write Protect."
Remove batteries and card. Look in the card slot for any bent pins. If you see some, use a small/skinny jeweler's flat screwdriver (K-mart, Walmart, and even dollar stores sell these, look in the hardware section) to bend the pin back as close as possible. Take your time and use as much patience as you can muster (take a breather in between if needed).
It doesn't have to be perfect, just as close as you can get it. When it's there, take your flash card and "SLOWLY" insert it. The card itself should fine-align the pin. Remove the card, and verify that the pin is still straightened. If so, reinsert the card and try it out.
This is from Konicas site. don't know if this will be any help for you since you had posted a long time ago. you most like have a new camera by now. anyway.
Question:
When a CompactFlash is loaded, a message of "Card Error. OK" appears and remains on the monitor display.
Answer:
Please follow the procedure below.
While the message is displayed, press the center of the controller. The monitor display and data panel will turn off.
Turn the Main Switch dial to OFF position and remove the CompactFlash from the camera.
- When "No Card" message appears next time when the camera is activated in the recording mode, the camera and CompactFlash are OK.
- When "Card Error. OK" appears again, the CompactFlash may be faulty. Use other card.
Storing digital picture information to a CompactFlash card (as when a digital image is taken) is similar to storing data on the hard drive of a computer -- if the process is stopped or interrupted, the information stored is not complete and, therefore, "corrupts" the storage media. A computer will display a warning message indicating that the hard drive has errors, while a camera will display a message indicating the memory card is corrupted.
The CompactFlash card corruption can be caused by:
* Turning off the camera power before the photo information is completely stored on the card.
* Removing the card before the photo information is completely stored on it.
* Taking a second picture before the camera has finished storing the previous picture.
* Camera batteries that are near the end of their life and need to be replaced.
Once a CompactFlash card is corrupted, it can be used again only by performing a Format procedure.
IMPORTANT! When a CompactFlash card is re-formatted, any pictures stored on it will be lost forever and cannot be recovered.
