There are several things that could be causing your Miller 225 with a Kohler CH18S engine not to get fuel. Here are a few things to check:
Fuel line - Make sure the fuel line is not clogged or damaged.
Fuel filter - Check the fuel filter to see if it is clogged or needs to be replaced.
Fuel pump - The fuel pump may not be functioning properly. You can test the fuel pump by removing the fuel line from the carburetor and turning the engine over. If you don't see a steady stream of fuel coming out of the fuel line, the fuel pump may need to be replaced.
Carburetor - The carburetor could be clogged or not functioning properly. You can try cleaning the carburetor or replacing it if necessary.
Spark plug - If the spark plug is dirty or worn out, it may not be creating a spark to ignite the fuel in the engine. You can try cleaning or replacing the spark plug to see if that helps.
Here's a quote from amy Chilton's manual for 1980-1987.
"Several types of fuel filters are used. One is located in the fuel tank of all the vehicles and is part of the fuel guage assembly. Second is a sealed paper element, in-line unit; mechanical system- located on the engine (above the fuel pump) or electrical system- located in front of the fuel tank. Third is a paper element, in-line fuel filter/vapor separator, housed in a fuel resevoir. Normally, the in-tank filter does not require changing. If it does, the fuel tank must be removed. " This thing you describe sounds like the typical Chrysler in-line filter of its day. It is nothing more than the same generic in-line plastic see-thru filter you buy for your lawn mower except in the 70's and 80's it was covered in metal and had a Chrysler part number. A lot of guys added an extra filter in those days, it wasn't the best system. I would remove the outlet line and turn the fuel pump on, see if you get fuel. Replace if needed.
pull fuel line from carb. turn over a few times to see if fuel pump is working. As the motor turns fuel should be pumping, if your gettin fuelinspect carb.If noy gettin fuel backtrack fuel line.
I was just working on an 08. They have a vacuum operated fuel pump. All of the dealers I spoke with said that a fuel pump going bad is uncommon. I would check to see if the vacuum line is craked. When you take the inlet gas line from the carb and turn it over, you should get a pulsating flow of fuel. Again, check vacuum hose first then assume the fuel pump.
Even if that was true, the car would run for 20 seconds without any fuel in the line, because the carb would have gas in the bowl. Why was the fuel pump replaced? How do you know theres no gas in the line? The check valve in the fuel pump should keep fuel from going backwards into the tank. The carb should hold gas, if not, find out why.
Check to see if your feul line is cracked or it is drawing air . Check your clamps that hold the lines on . One other thing you can check is to see if any bolts are loose that hold the carb on . Best of luck Ed.
