Remove and clean printhead on Canon IP1300

To remove and clean the printhead on your Canon IP1300 printer, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
  2. Open the printer cover and raise the printhead lock lever.
  3. Lift the printhead out of the printer.
  4. Moisten a cotton swab with warm water and gently clean the printhead nozzles. Be sure not to touch the gold-colored electrical contacts.
  5. If the printhead nozzles are heavily clogged, you may need to soak the printhead in a solution of warm water and a mild cleaning agent for a few hours. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning solution.
  6. After cleaning the printhead, shake it gently to remove any excess water, and then let it dry for a few hours.
  7. Once the printhead is dry, replace it in the printer and lower the printhead lock lever.
  8. Close the printer cover and plug the printer back in.
  9. Turn the printer on and perform a printhead alignment to ensure that the printhead is properly aligned.
If you are unable to clean the printhead or if the problem persists after cleaning, it may be necessary to replace the printhead. A new printhead can be purchased from the manufacturer or an authorized dealer.

  7. Check that the latch captures the printhead.nonontech_387.jpg
  8. Insert the color ink cartridge into the printhead.
  9. Press down on the color ink cartridge until you hear it click into position.

Unable to align cartridges on Canon Pixma MP600 all-in-one printer. When trying to print many black streaks obscure printed area.

This sounds like a printhead problem.
The first thing I would try is to clean the printhead. Remove the cartridges and store them (stretch a piece of plastic electrical tape over the ink cartridge hole to keep the ink from drying out).
Remove the printhead and set it in warm distilled water and let the printhead sit overnight.
Remove the printhead from the water and blot the water with a clean lint free dry cloth (do not rub the printhead and contacts, or damage could occur. Set the printhead aside to air dry.
Once the printhead is dry, reinsert the printhead, remove the tape from the ink cartridges, reinsert the ink cartridges. Test print. This should clear the problem.
We can try a more aggressive cleaning solution of the distilled water doesn't clear the problem.
Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks.
