Dim display on an ag-1980 may be caused by bad display module or bad electrolytic capacitors in the display power supply. "no power" is probably a bad 12 volt regulator on the main board. the main power supply is working as evidenced by the display lighting up.

Display is dim

Hello Friends! This dimming vacuum display is either caused by a power supply failure with the control board, or a the filaments of the display themselves have started to wear-- similar to that of a bad light bulb. Either way, FixYourBoard.com can solve this problem. Contact them 512-355-1108 for more information. The photo below is from a double oven, but we repair single oven displays too.

Dim LED display

As far as I recall, there is no adjustment. Typically the display area can be cleaned as smoke and dust collects on the plate. Remove the front panel and clean the inner surface of the plate. You may find that sufficient to resolve the problem. If not, then check the power supply for 5V and 12V. If the supply is low, the unit will still work properly, but the display can be dim.
