SOURCE: change password for wifi

Is there any computer online using the router.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.
On this page you will get the option for wireless security settings. You can change the wireless network key. It will be better to change the wireless network name also.
Make sure that your computer will be connected to the router with the cable.

  1. Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. In the URL address field, enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number

  2. Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.

  3. You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.

Wifi setup password

Confirm you do not have caps lock on, or are on a laptop with numlock on first. Assuming those basic settings are off, next you want to try and add the password in cleartext. In the wireless list, right click on your wifi network and select properties. Underneath the network security key should be a check box that says show characters. Click that and your password should be readable. Confirm it's correct or retype if not and try again.
If that does not work you may need to log into the router itself and reset the wifi password.

I cannot get access to WIFI. It reports an error. I have never been able to access WIFI since day of purchase. I would like to use it the Netbook but I can't. At first it was asking for server,...

WIFI is wireless internet service. You can use WIFI on your netbook to get on the internet. You can also use a corded connection like an ethernet cable to accomplish the same thing.

In order to use WIFI, you need to access to the account that is providing it. There are many ways to get access to wireless internet service. Some places have "WIFI hotspots" and if you are in range your netbook can pick up the signal by clicking on the little button marked "wireless" (or look for the picture of the wireless antenna) to have it search and connect. Places that include wireless hotspots or free WIFI are Starbucks, and local colleges or Universities. You can purchase your own wireless internet service from any local provider like Version or Charter Cable. Make sure to ask for a DSL modem with a wireless connection built in when you order service. Your account name and password are listed on the bottom of the modem and/or router. If you are unsure of which ones to use, call your provider for more details.

Wireless hot spots usually do not require passwords. Just click the wireless button to pick up a signal on the front of your netbook and follow the prompts on the screen to connect.

I would suggest purchasing your own connection instead of tyring to find an unsecured (no password protection) network that belongs to a neighbor to try and use theirs. The cost is approx $ 25 - $ 30 per month. Check with your local telephone provider for the deals available in your area.
