I used to be able to get the chanels, but when selecting HDTV on the input menu, I get a loud popping repeated from the speakers. If I select Menu and try and get to the HDTV section, as I get to the tab, the screen clears and locks up. No remote buttons work except the power button to turn off the TV. I know HD is there because off the same Antenna, I have used a HD CD recorder and its picks up the channels without issue..
Have tried to boost the signal thinking the ATSC tuner had gone "deaf" but no joy there either, Anyone any ideas?; Global reset key combination, Firmware upgrade available? Diagnostic key sequence ? Anyone got a service manual?
For the remote change battery or get new remote, For the TV make sure that your cable is plugged in properly and not half out. or has it previously been wet. Reason because it sounds like your TV has had a static charge.

I have the same exact problem and found more on here with the same problem. So far there is no answer for this. No the connector is not sticking half way out and no it did not get wet - and yes all the proper input selections are made. So does anyone have a REAL answer for this problem?? Looks like more than a few of us are looking. Let's get past the simple basic 101 answers and "make sure the set up is correct" stuff. Gotta be the tuner huh? I get the popping in my speakers as well so is there a line voltage problem or maybe some bad solder joints in the tuner? I don't know but I would love to find out!!
