SOURCE: i dont know where the

There are 2 fuse boxes / fuse panels in nearly every Ford product: one directly above the driver's left foot (when the driver is actually sitting in the driver's seat). The other is inside the engine compartment, on the right side - contains high current fuses.
The window fuses should be in the fuse box inside the car. It appears that fuses #10 (30AMP), #11 (15AMP) and #26 (10AMP) are the only relevant fuses associated with the power window circuit for this vehicle, according to the Ford wiring diagram. Hope this helps.

I think replacing fuse #26 should fix both the windows and the dome light.

SOURCE: ford explorer winsheld wipers and power windows

  • You need to open up the drivers side door and look at that harness that stretches between the door and the door frame. Inside that harness are the wires for the electronics in the cabin and then some.

  • Over time those wires get pinched and crack and break. So you need to splice the casing open the long ways ( or slide the casing for the harness one way and then the other) and inspect the wiring. Your looking for broke, split, rusted, bulging or otherwise negated wiring. The boots on either side may need to come off to look up inside for broke wires as well. Usually it's pretty evident which wires are messed up but sometimes you have to do a little digging.

  • When you find the broke wire[s] splice some new wire[s] in and use electric tape to re-insulate.

  • This is a common problem across the board with many car manufacturers and repairing the harness almost always is the fix in a situation such as yours.

  • Hope this helps..

2002 ford duel cam overhead engine

definately a short somewhere tracing will be tricky but here goes,is there a roof mount aerial above the dome light ? if so take dome light down and check for signs of water ingress ie corrosion on the bare metal parts etc,if no roof aerial move to the fuse box in engine compartment ,take the lid off which will have a list of the fuses/relays look for one's that go with the components acting up check them for corrosion ,will have to remove the fuse/relay to do this ,only take one out at a time so dont get any mixed up,then check the fuses inside car under dash drivers side particulary the window and wiper if nothing found get the OBD codes read and forward me the numbers , this might take you 10 minutes to sort or hours

Wiring Loom between door and body breaks internally. Take the car to an Auto Electrician and they can repair the loom. It is quite a common problem.

Check your ccm module under the carpet on the driver side where your feet sit. Mine did the same, had to change the box out.
