No reverse gear forward works fine. does not make any sounds at all when reverse pedal is pushed. Also, no hydraulic lift operation for mower deck. Main hydraulic line ruptured from differential to diverter valve but was replaced. Since then, no reverse or deck lift.

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver

you probably have the belt on wrong, check your manual to see if you have it on right.

Actually this is a fairly easy looking one to replace. If you go to John Deere parts and do a search for your tractor, in the parts listing it gives a pretty clear picture of the routing and configuration of the belt as it should go on, you might want to print it out to have nearby while you are working on it. You will need to remove the mowing deck to get at it and possibly some large blocks to elevate the tractor to give yourself room to work.
Look closely at the old belt if it is still on the tractor to get an idea what is involved BEFORE you start, comparing it with the picture. You will need to loosen and move or remove the belt guards and do be careful of the nylon fan on top of your transaxle

If traction drive belt is turning you should check the input drive shaft on top of trans to see if it is turning as well,Traction drive belt is suspect but could be a stripped out input shaft pulley.Make sure the machine tow lever is not pulled out, rear of machine by tow hitch. Also pull rubber caps off of both axle ends to see if one the axles is turning free inside of rim,if so remove wheel and replace axle key.
