When switched on the green light goes off and the top two lights flash. The green light then goes off. The computer says paper jam although there is nothing in printer. I recently opened up the printer as the heads needed cleaning. Is there a sensor switch which I have missed ? Also do Epson have service manuals. Thanks

hi, try downloading the ssc utility (just google it). it lets you reset the ink counters, individual ink cleaning etc. once you've opened the main screen you need to right click to get all the other bits. hope this helps

it is the wasted ink pad, they are full.
to have your printer work again
turn off the printer.
press and hold the ink and paper button while turning on the printer, wait for 5 seconds then release the button and press the paper button for at least 10 sec.
if done correctly , you will see the carriage start moving

You can download the repairer's manual for free from http://pcprinter.blogspot.com/2008/05/service-manual-for-epson-89012801290.html which is where the solution below is listed (p.68).
Basically Epson want you (or, rather, a service centre which you'll have to pay!) to replace the waste ink pad every so many copies. However, you can reset the printer even without replacing anything by switching it off on the silver button, switching it on again whilst holding down the two black buttons alongside it, then releasing them all before quickly holding down just the left-hand black button for 10 seconds. You have only three seconds to do this after switching back on, whilst the green and red lights are flashing together. If you're not quick enough on the first try, switch off using the silver button and repeat the procedure!
