Using a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition and the screen just went blank in the middle of a class. changed the batteries, didn't help. cleaned the connectors, didn't help. tried to change the resoluti

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

What do you mean by "changed the resolution"?

When i turn on my TI-84 silver edition only thing i see is a blinkin blaxk square on the top let corner.hiting any key wont do nothing it stays the same. Need help

If a checkerboard cursor ( black square ) is displayed, then either you have entered the maximum number of characters in a prompt, or memory is full.
If memory is full:

-Press 2nd then MEM and then 2 to display the MEMORY MANAGEMENT / DELETE menu.

-Select the type of data you want to delete, or select 1:All for a list of all variables
of all types. A screen is displayed listing each variable of the type you selected
and the number of bytes each variable is using.
-Press up-arrow and down-arrow keys to move the selection cursor > next to the item you want to delete, and then press DEL

Blank screen with cursor in top left hand corner not blinking. Nothing happens with any buttons.

Here are a list of troubleshooting techniques:

- Try pulling the 4 AAA batteries out of the back of the Calculator, and reinserting them
- Attempt a Master Rester, by pressing MEM(2nd and +) > 7 > ALL > 1 ( WARNING, THIS WILL RESET YOUR CALCULATOR TO FACTORY SETTINGS)
-Try Updating your calculator to the latest version, visit

However you will need "TI Connect" for your PC or Mac, those links are located at the top where it says "IMPORTANT"

TI 84 plus calculator, flashing dot in upper left hand corner

Hello,

When you turn the calculator on, its screen is cleared, save for a small square on the top left corner. This is the cursor and it is blinking: The calculator is waiting for you to order it to perform some calculation.

Try this simple operation
[1] [+] [1] [ENTER]. The calculator will display the result one line down justified to the right.

Hope it helps.
