1997 honda civic Car is off. brake light wont shut off.
I already bought the brake light switch. I need to know which fuse is for the brake light so that I can take it out and install the new brake light switch

You have to have power to the brake switch and the key switch to release the park solenoid. There is an 80amp fuse and a 50amp fuse that powers the key switch. Have you checked them to see if they have power ?
Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).
You can pull the brake fuse (See owners manual). Sounds like your brake light switch is out of adjustment, or bad. (Located on the upper part of the brake pedal arm)
remove fuse for brake lights, lights staying on is caused by bad brake light switch, which is under the steering column on the brake pedal, remove switch replace with new switch, re-install fuse for brake lights
It should be your brake light switch. There is a little plate welded to the arm of the pedal that has a hole with a rubber stopper. The rubber stopper is most likely missing, or damaged. You should be able to take a flashlight and see the plate and the switch. If the hole is plugged up, you will need the brake light switch, if not, replace the plug.
