Moen single handle bathtub faucet

Installed a brand new moen single handle bathtub faucet. Doesn't matter what I do but the water keeps running. Not only that but it's the hot water that's running I turn the handle all the way to the right to make ice cold, turn off but the water just goes back to hot again. My water bill has tripled, replaced the whole thing and it's still doing it!!!! What do I do???????????????

Are you experienced at soldering? If not, you may have overheated the valve and melted the cartridge, or over soldered it resulting in a small blob of solder interfering with the function of the cartridge. There are two different types of Moen shower valve. One is called Posi-temp and one is called Moentrol. The posi-temp has the anti-scald pressure balance built into the cartridge while the moentrol has a separate balancing spool, and is a far better valve. If you removed the posi cartridge before soldering, you may have torn the gasket when re-installing it. The bottom line is, it looks like you have a bad cartridge which needs to be changed. If posi-temp, I suggest buying a pulling tool. The moentrol has a pulling tool as well, but pliers will work fine on a new valve. Not so with the posi if the gasket is torn. Don't forget to remove the horseshoe shaped retainer clip before pulling the cartridge. Complete instructions are included with the new cartridge.

Something is caught in the stem. Make sure the stem is free of debris. Also check that the valve or cartridge is intact.

Why does moentrol bath valve give hot water pointed to "C" and vice versa?

Easy one.
Feel the pipes. The pipe on the right should be cold. If the pipes are correct, turn the cartridge 180 degrees.

No Hot water coming out when single handle on hot water side.Cold water comes out fine. Water in the lines leading to the taps, but no hot water coming out. This is a bathroom faucet Moen single handle.

Cartridge removal is a simple matter of exposing and pulling out the old cartridge. Before getting started, turn off both water valves underneath the sink and allow the water to run until the line is clear. Using a screwdriver, gently pry off the cap on the lever of the faucet handle to expose the cartridge. Remove the U-shaped retaining clip that holds the cartridge in place and pull the cartridge out. If dirt or residue makes removal difficult, use a Moen cartridge puller to assist you. A cartridge puller fits over the cartridge and gives you greater pulling power.

Soak the dirty cartridge in vinegar for four hours and replace.

If cleaning the cartridge does not work, call the Moen Helpline at 1-800-465-6636 or Customer Service at 1-800-465-6130 to order a free replacement. Locate the part number on the cover page of your instruction manual. If you no longer have the manual, look on the underside of the spout.

No hot water on Moen single handle shower faucet. cold ok and shut off is fine

do you have hot water elsewhere? if not, might be that your water heater is not heating.
if you do have hot water elsewhere, did you let the faucet run for a minute or 2.
did you have hot water before? is this a new house? new valve?
need a little more detail.
on posi temp valves, if there were no water coming out of the hot side of the valve, the valve will not operate.
