SOURCE: Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.

SOURCE: Stem Valve is frozen on my 3175 Legend.

Here is a possible solution for you. First go out and buy a Moen cartridge puller tool like this:

5b0f4de.jpg

Next follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the water to the valve.
  2. Install puller and rotate cartridge several times.
  3. Gently pull on cartridge while slowly turning.
This should work. If the center of the valve pulls out continue below with these suggestions:

  1. Remove center piece from tool.
  2. Place the brass feral to the end of the tool as shown.
  3. Insert this part of the tool into the valve all the way as far as it can go.
  4. Turn the tool until you hear a click or tool feels like it turns the valve.
  5. Pull on the tool gently while turning.
This should get the job done.

Also here is some information for you about your valve:

Hope this helps and please rate this suggestion.

SOURCE: moen T2113 shower faucet no hot water

You need to replace the stem. This will not cost you a dime; call MOEN and tell them the issue, with the model number, and they will send the replacement part. Many people don't know that MOEN is guaranteed for life (to the original owner)......another words, say you are the original owner :) They will not ask any questions. Good luck! PS Also works on any MOEN faucets you may have.

SOURCE: the shower control valve for my moen 2995 faucet

Turn off water main. remove round cap on face of handle, remove screw and pull handle. After that everything else can be pulled off easily. When you get to the diverter you should be able to why its stuck.

SOURCE: I am installing the valve housing for a moen

No...the (cotter pin) is a retaining piece for the cartridge. If you remove it the cartridge can blow out under pressure.

What do the 3 screws on the moen L3175 shower faucet do?

Two screws hold the cover plate. Behind the plate on some models you might find 3 screws. The two smaller screws on the left and right side of the valve shut off water to the valve and the larger screw on the right side of the valve is the pressure balance spool. The spool is all one piece.

Very difficult to pull faucet handle out to turn on in shower installation

the cartridge heeds to be replaced. It sounds like you have a moen shower valve. turning the stem on this cartridge will only reverse hot and cold. it will not fix your problem.

I have a single handle Moen shower faucet. Pull to turn on. Turn clockwise for cold. Turn counterclockwise for hot. It does not leak but it is hard as hell to pull out when I turn it on. The house was...

If it is hard to pull out or push in the valve then you will need to replace it. On moen valves you can not rebuild the cartridge you can only replace them. A new cartridge will cost you around 15 to 20 dollars.

Also I would tack the cartridge with you when you gao and buy it because they make 2 different ones.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs up for the free answer

There is a thin stream of water coming out from under the shower handle of my washer-type faucet whether the shower is on or off. What is the problem and how can I fix this please?

Turn off the water, remove the handle, escuchion, and stem.
Replace all washers/O-rings. If it is a plastic stem, replace the stem.

The seals are worn, allowing water to pass by.

On some really old valves, the actual metal walls of the valve eventually get worn, and washer replacement does not completely solve the problem, or last long. In that event, replacing the valve is about the only option.
