Onkyo TX-SR604 provides audio thru receiver but no video on Bravia LCD when satellite receiver signal is sent thru any of the Onkyo HDMI connections to tv, however if I connect up my Samsung DVD recorder same way, I get both audio and video (prior to moving I had both set up as below) Bypassing the Onkyo and making a direct connection between sat and Bravia provides both audio and video, which would indicate an Onkyo problem but that is negated by the Samsung working. Any ideas? O Video Input setup menu on Onkyo is : a. DVD --- b. Vid 1 --- c. Vid 2 --- d. Vid 3 --- HDMI. e. DVD :IN 2 f. Vid 1 :IN 1 g. Vid 2 :No h. VID3 :No

Easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.

Can a Onkyo tx sr604 receiver be used as a pre amp?

Yes. You can use the Line Out, or Pre-Amp output into another receiver or amplifier. The receiver or amplifier you use as the amp, will need to have a volume control, as the line output coming from the TX SR604 cannot be varied.

Onkyo TX-SR604: Video in from cable box has taken increasingly longer to display a picture.

I would at least disconnect all units from power for a while and then reconnect to allow the units to reboot.

Onkyo tx sr604 turns off as soon as i turn it on

Your unit is going into protect mode. More than likely because you have a bad channel. Take a DVM on diode check and test all off your outputs. Once you find the pair that is shorted, you will need to replace both outputs and all of the transistors in that circuit. You will also need to check your low ohm resistors in that circuit as well as your duel emmiter resistor.

I have a Onkyo TX-SR604 Receiver. I get no sound

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

A point to keep in mind here is that Zone II will only feed through an analog source. Since the Video 1 input is using the digital (coax, optical) input that that is your most likely issue.

Thank you for using Fixya, and please let me know if I can firther assist.

Onkyo tx-sr604 help

You said you tried hooking the HDMI up directly from the TV to each component, and that worked. How is it usually hooked up - through some kind of switch? I'm not completely understanding your setup here.
