To use the movie-record button, your camera must be in the live view mode.
When you are using the viewfinder (DSLR mode) you only can shoot stills. in live view, you can shoot movies with the little red Movie-record button and shoot stills with the shutter release button.

It seems problem with hard disk that need to be formatted, please make sure you have copied/ transferred recorded files in computer or format HD will delete every thing on HD.
Press Menu button on lcd screen and select settings then select HD and select Format, it will take little time to format hard disk.

My sony handycam carl zeiss says movie recording disabled. What do I do to enable it?

Most probably it is an issue with the disc. If the disc is corrupted, it will display the error message to prevent spoiling the lens of the Camcorder. Please use a different disc and it should resolve the issue. If the issue persists with different discs, it may require service..
However, I suggest that you reset the Camcorder by pressing the Reset button behind the LCD panel (Near to the USB port) on the Camcorder) Please make sure that you have turned ON the Camcorder while pressing the reset button.

Camera shows hd movie recording disableD

HD movie recording disabled: SOLVED for 2 HDRSR5's (work and home): After copying all movies to computer, "DELETE ALL" from HD view. Evidentally if you have been deleting movies using computer, the still images used for 'scene selections' remain and fill its capacity. You must be in HD view when choosing Delete All (that is, rather than just deleting all Standard movie clips)

"movie recording disabled". How do I enable it?

If you are using DVD-RW, format it because it got some error in data writing.
and if its DVD-R, use another disc and try to finalize existing DVD-R / DVD-RW to get data.
Thanks.

Movie recording disabled

it's either you finalized a disk or your memory stick is full. if possible delete recordings and or photos in your memory stick to enable recording, or put a blank disc..once a disc is finalized it cannot be used to record on the cam but could still be viewed on the cam by selecting the media format,

How can i fix the "movie Recording Disabled" on sony DCR-DVD108?

Hi there. I undertand how upset you must be. I would be if it happened to me. Did you check the manual for this error code?

If you didn't, I'll tell you what it means. It means one of 2 things: 1) you have a bad disk or:
2) you are trying to use a disk that has been finalized. Once a disk has been finalized, it cannot be recorded on.

I'm sorry, I know it's a bummer, and it's not what you wanted to hear, but it happens occasionally. There is no fix for it. You just have to get a new disk and record it again.

Thanks for using FixYa, and if you have any further questions, just comment back. If you don't mind, please rate my solution a fixya.

DV-PC recorder

DV-PC Recorder is a Windows XP only application that enables you to record images and sound on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by connecting a camcorder equipped with the DV CONTROL function to a computer using an IEEE1394 (DV) cable. DV-PC Recorder has the following features. 1. You can record movies simultaneously on your computer's hard disk and on the tape by pressing the start/stop button on the camcorder. 2. It enables long, continuous recordings, which you cannot achieve with the tape alone. (Approximately four and a half hour's worth of recording will fit on a 60GB hard disk.) 3. You can start editing the movies on the computer right after recording, as the images and sound are saved on the computer's hard disk. (Optional editing software is required to edit movies) 4. You can record movies on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by controlling the DV-PC Recorder from your computer.
