SOURCE: Can I Use Existing Venting from Old Water Heater?
Late answer to an old post, but no you can't use the existing vent pipe. The tankless systems require Category III vents along with all the accessories required for your installation. I suggest you use a direct vent model with the concentric vent through the wall. Remove and patch the roof penetrations of the old vent or just abandon and let it remain.
SOURCE: Rheem water heater turns off by its self
Flashing code 76 is lost communication between the remote and the burner control assembly CCA (circuit card assembly). The CCA is still under warranty if purchased within the last 3 yrs. Contact Rheem customer service and have your Mod. and S/N available....explain to the agent you are recieving - flashing code 76...they'll walk you through the process.

find out if it does the same noise with the venting disconnected
SOURCE: Rheem Power Vent 2 water heater is flashing 4
The flashing light is a trouble sequence light. Find your manual to see what 4 flashes means. It's usually attached to the side of the water heater tank. Try a quick fix by unplugging the power vent and see what happens.
